I played through that Gk250ml with a Marshall 2x12 bottom from 90 to 93, it was the bomb dizzle. Surprising how much output it had, it filled out the bottom well. The tuned Marshall helped fatten and warm it up so it sounded almost like a mesa boogie…it was easy to toss into the backseat and move without breaking your back hah. I rememberr seeing Alex Lifeson using one as an onstage monitor in a Rush video ~ I forget which song. Great post - enjoyed listening to you both.

Oh man, my brother had that exact Gillian Kruger amp - back in the 80's. I never see those anymore. If I remember correct - that thing could peel the paint off the walls. My God, that thing was so heavy and dense sounding. It was so freaking loud. He was a big Iron Maiden fan.

Nobody does a rig run down like John Bohlinger and RJ Ronquillo's demos are always interesting. He did a great job here of sampling the gear without falling into the ego trap of making a performance out of every opportunity. 👍

That's the Grez Mendocino Junior, having a solid redwood body (which is a light wood anyway). The regular Mendocino (two pickups) is chambered mahogany with an old-growth redwood top. I used to work in old wineries, and I've seen the wood change color just like that. I'll never understand why builders don't round unbound bodies over like Strats are, under the right arm. That makes such a comfort improvement.

Anyone knows the secret to use The Drop before Octaland and Analogman (Fuzz) without generate that insane noise when hit the Octavia and Fuzz type of pedals? After already tryin' diferent places for the Drop (first in chain, after Fuzz/Octave and before Univibe / after Fuzz/Bive/distiortion sections), the right place is right after fuzz and before univibe, to get the best drop accuraci. But, when hit my KingTone miniFUZZ Si, the overall volume blows and a need to ajust fuzz volume to the unit - what not happens with the Tycobrahe Octavian.. If anyone can help.. tks!

Great Rundown and seemingly a real sweetheart of a guy. Believe it or not, I gigged for a couple years in the 80’s with a GK ML 250 through a Marshall 4/12 Slanted Cab. It sounded huge, wish I’d never offed it!🙁

The Wahcho sounds like it is perfectly designed for use with a fuzz without having the fuzz first. From The company: The Wahcko features a bufferless proprietary circuit design that allows for impedance sensitive pedals, like germanium fuzz boxes to be placed after the Wahcko with no issues!
