I know it’s been said, but, John is so great at this. He allows the artist to talk, while not trying to show that he knows everything, even though he knows a lot. So smooth at what could be awkward and somewhat boring if done wrong.

The dynamic between Rick and Dave reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry takes his car to his mechanic and the mechanic knows everything about the car, admonishing Jerry for not keeping track of the air pressure on the tires and things of that nature. Ofcourse Rick is just as knowledgeable of his gear but I just thought it was funny seeing Rick verify details with Dave.

I personally enjoy his content because he provides factually based opinions and he does it in an unpretentious manner. There are a many less qualified on YT that get more credit.

I was shamed out of using light strings by my friends decades ago. But I bought a set of 8 Super Slinkys yesterday after watching Rick's video and slapped them on my LP Junior and really having a good time with them. I'm doing Gilmourish wide bends, Hendrixy vibrato and Frank Mariano hammers and pull-offs like woah. I'm leaving 10s on the LP but these 8s on the LP Junior right now are loads of fun.

That's the SVT that fell off its cab and Jason Newsted went to catch it and it *literally* pulled his arm out of its socket. That's how heavy it is.

The only thing that weighs more than an SVT is an Ampeg V9. It's the 300w all tube guitar version of the SVT, with a spring reverb inside. They actually came with a 9x10 cab. I used one in a local studio tracking an album that never saw the light of day, even as an Ampeg nerd I was shocked. I swear it weighed more than I do.

That's what he did in the 80s in college and that's what he got back to on KZbin in the last few years. He got me back into music, and countless others too. People like Marty Friedman credit him for having expanded their musical horizon by teaching him new things.

I have a ‘79 “the SG”, and I have the opposite opinion regarding playability after a headstock break...mine was broken clean off, and post-repair I swear 100% it is more stable than ever. It doesn’t make any sense I know, but the notorious g-string tuning issues are gone.

He reminds me of myself; pure enthusiasm. I get a kick out of watching his channel. John, what can you say. Bolinger is the best at rig rundowns; hands down. I think, even more important, is the respect he shows to the artist he interviews. Just a great time. Keep up the good work fellas!

I even have a non-Fender Tele which had a pro set up like 20 years ago and it's still PERFECT. Amazing.

I'm SO GLAD you started with string gauge. It's such a basic thing to start with. BRILLIANT. I recently bought a Squier Custom 60s Telecaster and I think it came with 8 gauge strings and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I'm thinking of putting 8s on my Gibson too.

I have a 2x12 SUNN that I converted to a stereo isolation box. I recorded guitars at 3:00am in my old apartment in Kentwood, MI.

Not a word about that beautiful old Ampeg V4 there. I have the same one, early 70's. 100 watts of pure thunder (more like 120)
