I LOVE this slide player!! Is there any chance that you could do an update #rundown of Hunter Hayes? And that you could interview #LarkinPoe? They are two roots rock’n roll sisters who began as violin players and had a phase of bluegrass; Megan Lovell is a lapsteel player inspired A TON by Jerry Douglas, and Rebecca Lovell plays a variety of instruments (lead vocals, acoustic/electric guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, etc). I’ve been fans of them for years, and they’re definitely worth an interview! My daughter wishes to go on tour with them one day!

When he plays it's as if it's a time machine back to another era. Other people can play the same stuff but he has done the research more than almost anyone apparently and when he plays something it nails the vibe so perfectly. Inspiring for sure. I haven't had the chance to see him live yet but the full band (trio) jams on instagram live over the last year or so absolutely blew me away. Psychedelic soul man!

I met JD and his Band at a festival in the UK a few years back - his band approached mine backstage because our dressing room warmup song at the time was bizarrely 'Keep on Movin' by Five, which they thought was funny. When I recognised him, I thrust my hand out to shake his which almost made him drop his 335... never would've forgiven myself... but He and his band were extraordinarily kind and gracious and we had a good time hanging out in the sun for a bit eating crappy festival food.

Love these ultra detailed long rundowns. Can't help but notice blues and country guys never get any negative comments on their gear or behavior, while other musicians get trashed on for using or saying the same things. Really interesting crowd mentality going on there. Oh well, all the best

About those Ampeg Gemini I amps (I'm an Ampeg geek/nerd/freak, and Gibson amps too, but I digress). For those who didn't know: studio guitarists in NYC had a "key club", so they didn't have to haul their amps around to studios. Gemini I amps were outfitted with a car key on/off switch, and they put those Gemini I amps in all the studios. Key club members were each given a key, which enabled them to use the Gemini I amps in whichever studio they were working at. Bass players thought it was a good idea, bass amps being even heavier, so they too soon had a key club. For them it was the Ampeg flip-top "porto-flex" B-15 amps, which they too had put in every studio, outfitted with a car key on/off switch. I used to have a Gemini I and II, which I got to fix myself, but sold them to my local amp tech instead about 10 years ago. He loves it so much it's in his studio, one of his best sounding amps he says, and it has a Jensen "Vibranto" needing a re-cone, the holy grail of vintage Jensen speakers, the best speakers they ever made. After watching this, RJ has made me determined to get another Gemini I, this time working, and I've got plenty of speakers that might work, although I'm thinking a Celestion Gold might work well in that amp, or a Weber 12F150, or (possibly best sounding?) vintage Jensen C12N organ pull speaker...?

I have been watching Rig Rundowns since the beginning. I actually was a part of the guitar community in the beginning of facebook. I left it a long time ago because it was just toxic and i quit playing. Out of nowhere, i got the bug again. I'm older now and work a lot, but ive been playing again and came back to these videos and this one is incredible to me. One of the last ones i watched was of JD when he was the small Hippie. Killer guitar player, but this one meant way more. We are all gettin fuckin old. I loved every bit of this and i love how honest he is about this vintage gear that everyone masturbates to.
