"Runnin with the Dweezil" again proves it's true greatness. Love it... Great job Dweezil !!!

It's good to hear someone of Dweezil's knowledge say that. I've watched several videos of Beck jamming and always thought there were Eddie sounds coming coming through.

Eddie = GOAT OF ROCK Jeff = GOAT OF Instrumental GUitar music. . TWO of my favorites for sure

I always saw the musical DNA that EVH got from Jeff. He just did it in overdrive and on nitrous oxide with it floored and peeling rubber all the way, whereas Jeff was the master of dynamics, sounding like a crying woman and then a raging bulldozer. RIP EVH and JB. I love and miss you both.

This is so awesome. "...I know Jeff is on this island somewhere. " Epic divine providence 😊

Interesting to hear Batten talk of Beck's reaction to the success EVH was having in the mid-Eighties, as I have always felt that "Flash" was a case of Beck trying to out-Van Halen Eddie. That said, Beck unleashes some killer solos on the record and his playing on "People Get Ready" is sublime. The track "You Know, We Know" sounds like a proper follow up to Beck's previous album, "There and Back", perhaps because Tony Hymas wrote it.

I connect EVH to JB through the element of risk I hear in both of their playing.

Jeff Beck is the greatest, every professional musician who talks about him just goes on a revering rant.

@@Skwid-Lives , obviously Buckethead is the greatest. He means out of our rock guitar fore fathers; Page, Hendrix, Clapton..

@@Skwid-Lives , Page was my favorite as a kid.. however, you literally cannot compare any of those guys to Jeff Beck. I promise you, i have taken that Pepsi Challenge for decades, Beck is the best of that era. I will agree with you, however that Buckethead is probably the greatest. A literal Mozart of our time

@@seanmurphy26 Yea I’ve never really ever thought in terms of “best ever” or any or that while listening to anyone. I’ve always just thought I like them more than someone else. For some reason though after discovering Bucketheads Pike series I now often have that thought more times than naught only because there are so many amazing songs thru those Pikes. Shred stuff, bluesy stuff, heavy stuff, acoustic stuff. Theres so much. If you haven’t listened to his Pike series it’s a must. Some aren’t that good but some are great.

You can hear a lot of Jeff Beck in Ed, especially on Going Down. You can hear the genesis of the intro to Mean Streets at 4:55 of it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ7dp2iuf5mqe5Y

@@danielduplantier3741 you realize bass players had been slapping their strings before Beck right? Ed was literally doing a slap bass technique which if he was already tapping the string like a piano why not slap and mute? Go look up a slap bass tutorial and you’ll see those Mfs are constantly muting and plucking and slapping. Go shit in ya hat.
