The exact same thing happened to me. I had never heard of Against Me! until I somehow found this video in late 2015 and within two months they were my favorite band ever. Since then I've seen them 17 times in 12 states and one Canadian province, met all of them several times, got the AM! skull logo tattooed on my shoulder, and I even own the red Nash Telecaster James shows off in this video at 2:33. I attended the second of just two shows (Portland, ME) they played in March of 2020 before aborting the tour for COVID and I fear that I witnessed the last AM! show ever because Laura seems to have lost her mind over the past few years. Even if the band were to somehow be reformed it'll never be the same because James would probably be the only one to come back. At least I had a fun 4 years...

Good band option for a rundown, nice selection of gear. Shouldn't shotgun through the interview, but they may have been dealing with an impending door time. Also, Perry needs to chill the F out. Ask your questions, and then shut up and let the person answer. Nobody cares what you're familiar with, they're watching to hear the interviewee talk.
@premierguitar10 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that, but we were crunched with time trying to do two Rig Rundowns with two bands (Gaslight Anthem and Against Me!) around the bands' soundchecks and before doors opened. We hope you understand that given these sort of circumstances at nearly every shoot, it's not going to be a 20/20 production and we hope that's sort of the appeal of our program. Thanks for checking it out and we'll try to even things out if you promise to cut us some slack.
@scottmckinstry169810 жыл бұрын
Dont be a dick. It's his job to be familiar with a variety of gear and to ask questions, but we can't all be familiar with everything! Its just impossible.
@TomWhaley62110 жыл бұрын
The host clearly knows a thing or two about some of the equipment on stage, so the more people talking about it, the merrier. It's a gear interview. I'm here for both the bands and knowledge. If Perry has something to contribute that a member of the band doesn't, let him. It's his job, and he does fine.
@lionsfightmachines987910 жыл бұрын
Okay, obviously I should have enunciated my point better. It's not about what he knows or doesn't know, and it's not about being engaged which he certainly is, but you can absolutely interject your personal gear knowledge into an interview without constantly talking over the interviewee. Perry, stop talking over the interviewee. That's all I'm saying.

Laura is such a badass. I love her. I love her attitude. Love her passion for music. Love her willingness to be open about her transition. She's a hero and a fantastic role model for trans rock musicians. Or just queer musicians in general. Not everyone is. Believe me. There are some TERRIBLE queer reps in the spotlight out there. Being yourself takes priority over everything else. She got to be herself, while maintaining a great musical career, surviving in this industry isn't easy for anyone at all, and she's so good at what she does. She has always been SO talented. The community was very welcoming when she came out (From what I've read and heard in interviews). She's just an all around great person. Not to mention, easy on the eyes. I would be honoured to gig with her one day. She's really helped so many people. She may not even know it. Also. I agree with the majority. The interview was a bit weird and rushed. Although when you're setting up to play a gig, it's a little more than chaotic. Either way. Always a pleasure!

Nash Guitars is a custom guitar builder. The black tele was a custom order, so it would be pretty hard to get any real specs on it other than what is shared in this video. You could probably email Nash if you really want to know. They're nice guys from what I've heard. Cheers
@SombraPiloto9 жыл бұрын
+We are Gruhak 5 months late I know but I just got an almost identical Nash to what Laura is playing, the only difference is that it has a single coil pickup and a traditional Tele bridge instead of her humbucker. Super light and an awesome sound, I love it!!! Some would sneer at paying a premium for a relic'ed guitar and I can understand that with something like a Fender Road-worn that's just a stock guitar with some seemingly random sanding but the Nash is broken in as if it's been played for 30 years and that makes it quite a sweet player. A Nash guitar would never be considered "cheap" but I'm quite happy with my choice.
@Gruhak9 жыл бұрын
SombraPiloto I don't have the slightest problem with relic guitars, on the contrary, i have a MJT strat which i think is an oustanding guitar. This particular tele really caught my eye for some reason and would gladly buy a Nash like this one if i could afford it :D
@SombraPiloto9 жыл бұрын
We are Gruhak I bought the Nash because I saw Laura playing one and thought it was a badass looking guitar. Had to drive about 100 miles each way to get it (listening to nothing but Against Me!) but it was worth it! I'm really liking the road worn Strats I've seen so if I don't buy a clean Strat-type guitar and beat it up myself I might get one of those when the funds become available.

Nowadays more than ever the quality of Gibson guitars plain sucks. We are at a point where you may get a Chibson Les Paul, change the tuners and pickups, do a solid fret makeover and what you get is equal in value to a "mondays" Gibson original, for a 10th of the price.
