F-4F ICE has 4 IR missiles more, the 9L/I on ICE have also IRRCM. Amount of AIM-120 is the same + you get better RWR on Phantom. Easily right now the viggen is worst AIM-120 jet, rivaling maybe the Harrier but Harriers are at least somewhat fun and unique to play. Anyone craving for some BVR and having that much money to spend should just get F-14 with Fakour-90's from the market

Literally playing Japanese phantom 11.0 and I get constantly uptiered against F-4S that has PD radar with HMD, AIM-7F. I guess F-4S get uptiers to 13.0 frequently as well, when they have to face, ICE, Harriers and now Viggen with AIM-120, must be "fun" with their 50 chaff at best

I don't have an issue with this premium. It's expensive, sure, but it's also not overpowered or has some paywalled advantages against other aircraft. It's a totally optional vehicle people can purchase if they have the money. I feel like people tend to forget this is a completely free to play game, and an extremely well made one at that. There's no premium ammo, premium armor, and besides a few choice vehicles in it's lifetime, hasn't really had any pay-to-win vehicles.

@@teivabaudoin2666 EM diagrams dont account for nose authority or energy retention (a bit iffy, you can extrapolate energy retention a tiny bit,) but as you can see in the EM diagram it starts to fall off past 0.8 mach which signals that it doesnt bleed very hard in that regime, meanwhile the viggen in war thunder cant retain very well in any regime, also since when did war thunder follow diagrams? The F-15 doesnt get the correct sustained rate, the viggen can do backflips, the flanker doesnt have any of its awful departure charcteristics, the fullback is.. id say its pretty nuts for what it is (a massivly heavier Su-27 with AL-41F) and shouldnt preform how it does

My funniest premium aircraft experience (and i have a lot of them) i just love the viggen irl and i buyed it to grind the swedish tech tree (i already have the draken), its very fun to use and its very strong i got a lot of kills in my games (2-3 ; 3-4) and it was very funny to play the only thing that is bad is the airframe sometimes and the fuel consumption but for me its okay. The RWR is not good, but its not bad it's very understandable for me. If you have money and want it, then get it (I have win dogfights against F16, F15, SU27SM and others like JF17 J10, the only ones that i didn't fighted was the mirage and grippen for the moment. You just need to be experienced with delta wing airframes and experienced with these type of airframes in general) But yeah 80€ for a plane in a game, thats a lot I agree

I bought the Viggen and in my opinion (despite not being a very good player) it is not that bad, being in 13.0 there is always the possibility of going to down tier and there it is a monster, I recommend it although if you can't because of its cost there is no big problem, the J35Xs is equally good and sooner or later you will unlock the ViggenDI which is free.

Rb74 is an standard AIM9L no IRCCM. This Viggen sits at 13.0 not 13.3. And the TT variant is only 200k RP I grinded it with the normal Viggen D at 12.0 in 2h

I’m a disgusting wallet warrior who bought this. Unlike others, I have other 13.7 planes. What I can say about using this is that it’s very rough when facing actual 13.7s because of the huge discrepancy in flight performance from gen 3 to gen 4 aircraft. Another huge disadvantage I noticed is no HMD. Lastly, it really does need IRCCM dog fighting missiles, with only aim-9Ls, it simply cannot dogfight, once you fire off all your AMRAAMs, you need to go to base ASAP. Overall, this plane is a mixed bag, I’ve had fun playing it, but it also has frustrating attributes. Unless you’re experienced at 13.7, do not buy this plane. I have a friend who bought their way to top tier with this and are having a really rough time.

Don't grind Sweden with premiums. You don't need to. As you said theres plenty of gems that you can talisman and the tree is short, so I can agree there. Secondly, the "unique" strength of the Viggen is its high prolonged speed. With time, it can reach 1.2M on the deck and it has no rip speed. This is great at 11.3 but a lacklustre strength at 13.0+. This opens a whole can of worms on its own. I don't know why they do, but I suspect the Viggen isn't someone's favourite at Gaijin. They were very quick to act on a bug-report stating the Viggen was slightly overperforming in its sustained turn rate while completely ignoring other bug reports stating the Viggen isn't accelerating as fast as it should nor hitting its stated service speeds. I love this plane in game, but I do firmly believe its been shafted a little.

viggen fm is not as bad as you described it, it wipes the floor with most 3rd gen aircraft in a duel at 12.0 but going 1v1 in an air rb match was never a good idea in any plane. It doesnt need a better radar because you wont be launching any amraams at more than 50km anyways. Youre more agile than a f4 and faster than it and has far more countermeasures, the only downside is the 9Ls and rwr. and its 13.0 not 13.3.

Everything matters to an extent. The Su27 flight model for example typically doesn’t matter a whole lot, despite being the worst dogfighter at top tier. The plane still pushes well past Mach 1, has plenty of thrust to weight, and as long as you have speed it doesn’t really lose the speed through turns. The issue is that the viggen is an 11.0 flight model fighting at 13.0, often times 13.7. It’s slow to get supersonic by comparison, doesn’t keep being super sonic through turns, and loses all speed instantly in any resemblance of a dogfight that it takes 3-4x longer to get back than its peers.

@@SeekerHead Couldn't you say the same about the other 13.0 jets planes that have Fox-3s? I don't think anyone playing the F-4F ICE or Harrier is under the impression that they can win a dogfight against basically anything at their BR and probably wouldn't even do well in a dogfight in a full downier. Their whole shtick is the AMRAAMs and they have to be played that way. I haven't flown the new Viggen but I have flown the F-4F pretty extensively and it does ok as long as you stick to BVR. The flight model absolutely holds it back but its an AMRAAM carrier at 13.0 so shouldn't it have a poor flight model to compensate for that?

what sucks is that this is literally the only “good” aircraft to grind the entire swedish tech tree. the j35xs has absolutely zero chance to fight anything at its br - no rwr - 12 cm - BARELY supersonic - very very very small fuel quantity - can only last one turn and then your fate is up to the # of players around you - 6 of some of the worst missiles in game(especially at 11.0) the j35xs was at the same br as the mig 21, which is superior in literally all of these aspects. but oh it’s 0.3 lower(it still fights mig21s a lot)

There's no problem with premium vehicles themselves (unless they're utterly unfinished and artificially nerfed for no good reason like US ones), there is a problem with premium vehicles when they are blatantly unbalanced and have an absurd cost on top of that. This shit is unbalanced, and $80 is way too much for any premium, especially when you're paying that much for vehicles like the US gets that are released unfinished, get nerfed into the ground afterwards artificially due to incorrect implementation, and are half assed to hell and back.
