Premium Weed Control for Sedges and Kyllinga

Great video!! I just bought a home with major kyllinga and yellow nutsedge problems (50% of lawn). I'm thinking about mixing halosulfuron (Prosedge) and imazosulfuron (Celero) in a single application w/ NIS this month (late Sept) to get a head start for next spring. I'm afraid sulfentrazone will be too stressful after a long summer (this is on bermudagrass). Is this a good mix and good time of year to apply?

Hi Grant! Our apologies for overlooking this question. It is now appropriate to wait and treat kyllinga and yellow nutsedge after they are actively growing next summer. We have observed no benefits of tank mixing Prosedge with Celero when targeting these weeds over using these products alone. We have found that Prosedge is highly variable and does not provide kyllinga control nearly to the level as Celero. Thus, given your kyllinga issues, we would suggest an application of Celero (always follow label directions), and include a non-ionic surfactant in the spray mix. I would plan to retreat the lawn in 6 to 8 weeks with Celero if you find that additional plants have germinated and emerged in the lawn. You will want to spray Celero at least a couple of weeks after you first see the plants starting to grow in the lawn. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the video! May i ask if it’s applicable to use those post emergent herbicide in an onion production?

Hi Joyce! You're most welcome! Celero (imazosulfuron) herbicide is not labeled for onion production. This herbicide is harmful to onions, so we cannot recommend it for that use.
