Could you add a couple of examples where the final knots could be used in real-life applications? Your videos are really fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, do you mean the applications for sailing?
@Khether00013 жыл бұрын
@@Premiumropes Yes, for sailing if it is an easy example, but if you think the knot you plan to demonstrate could have a direct application that you know of for rock climbing, survival situations, hauling, etc. would be nice to see how they could be useful. But I don't mean to disrupt the system you have in place for your videos, I only thought about at the end, with the same camera setup, if you happen to have some prop at hand, to perhaps bring it up and show how the knot is supposed to interact with other objects, show its intended purpose. In any case, I really want to thank you again, Your videos are fantastic and very inspirational! Cheers!

Here's one example: I'm putting one of these together for the deck part of a two part preventer. The boom part is a length of Dyneema from the boom end to a loop about mid-ships, one on either side. The deck part is double braid, running from a cockpit winch through a couple of low friction rings that route it to the bow and back to meet the boom part. Before, we'd simply tie a bowline to connect the two parts, but instead we'll use this setup, which should be a little quicker and easier during late night wind shifts.

In the past, I have made a longer shackle and then cow hitched it on to the eye splice for my sheets. Can you think of specific benefits for this method? I can see that this uses less material and looks cleaner.

Hi Blaine, the benefits are exactly as you say! It uses less material and looks cleaner. But in essence both methods are almost the same!
