My ex BF was from Bolivia and I even hired a room in her spacious apartment nearby my job years ago (I even made the effort to have keys made to every room of their immense apartment, and to my surprise the house was emptied of its longtime inhabitants a few months later and demolished 😳 after 20 years living there. I would've appreciated being told not to waste 200 CHF on keys, oh well..). Her old mom Felicia, and 4 teenagers lived with her, there were non stop lots of friends and people coming and going, all speaking only Spanish (we're in a French speaking area), plus 3 little dogs named Cocaïne, Opium and Cornichon 🤣 always barking that I dreamt of taking for a walk and losing in the Forrest somewhere 😱, only dreamt it, I'd never do such a thing). Once I got "home" from work and found a South American lady crying and explaining something.... In Spanish. I felt bad and embarrassed in her place, and was analyzing how I should react? Make believe I didn't notice? Ask her but that'd be in French? No no no...I decided to be myself. I handed her a tissue and put my arm around her shoulder saying everything is going to be fine 🥰 After a little while, we were served supper and I accepted a glass of wine (I never drink alcohol). After a few sips, incredibly, I felt like I suddenly understood everything they were saying... In Spanish 🤣😂🤣
