It’s probably good that you guys stayed there. The fires were only about 10 minutes from me. It’s been so sad. I think we are up to 992 houses completely lost and over 120 badly damaged. It’s amazing to see my little community rally to help but so hard for so many people.

@JamieLOVEUMOREJOURNALS3 жыл бұрын
Sorry. Last comment. There is a better way to tie the elastic. You can use one pc and go through the two holes at the top long down the middle and then thru the two on the bottom and back up and then tie it. Then you don’t have the long pc of elastic on the outside of your book. It looks nicer and you don’t use as much elastic.

Hi Gayle!! Awesome covers!! The one with the doily is my favorite!! You're going to busy trying to fill them up!! Many years ago I worked at Michaels here and I saw a woman in her mid 30's come in around 8:00 pm and at 8:50 headed to the cashier. I was the "returns" clerk and she comes storming over and says she needs to have an item corrected and needs to do it now!! I had about 5 people in the line up that were there before her and I told her that she would have to go to the back of the line and wait her turn. She did not like that at all and became obnoxious. I told her to calm down and then I turned to the 5 people waiting and asked them if they would mind if I assisted this rude person first so that they and anyone else in the store would not have to be in the rude lady's company longer than necessary. They all at the same time chimed in and said "please help her". So I did and as this rude person is going out the door she calls me a "B"!! I then replied back to her that she needed to have a look in the mirror. The other people that were in the line started clapping!! I was then able to help the people in the line. My motto has always been "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!!" Be kind and you will receive kindness back. Sorry.....kind of rambled there!! LOL TFS!!Hugs, Liz:)

In my younger days, I worked two different retail jobs, one at a clothing store and one at a gift shop. I can tell you that from Thanksgiving to New Years retail is the worse place to work, because of situations like you witnessed. I feel that everyone needs to have a stint in the retail world, especially around Christmas time, it will give most people a good dose of reality of what those of us in retail experience. My worse interaction with a customer was with someone who I later found out was the manager of another store within the same mall I worked in. I make sure that I treat all retail and food service workers the utmost respect because I know how it feels to be in those situations. Great start for the new year Gayle. lots of journals are coming! We dodged the snow so far this year. We had dusting on Christmas eve but we had unusually mild days in Dec. for Massachusetts. I drove my son from Florida back to Boston, the week before Christmas, 22 hours. It took us 3 days with a cat in the back. It was such a long trip, so exhausting. He came home and didn't leave the bed for a week after that. His depression is so bad but I am happy he is home safe with me. It was a nightmare of a year for me, almost lost him twice, 8 times back and forth to Florida. It was so exhausting, depleted me to the core, financially, mentally and physically. I am taking it now one minute at a time and back watching my favorite people. Looking for a job and hoping I'll restock my etsy shop for a little help. I am hopeful for the new year with a good year on everyone, you and your family! hugs.

Hi, Gayle. I think that final cover you made with the elastic cord is done a bit differently. One only has to make one knot. You put the cord twice through one of the holes.
