I’d enjoy watching your defrag. I’ve been using up 40 year old gouache that I discovered in my recent studio defrag. It was crumbly and I had to cut the tubes open. Rewetted fine and I’ve been having fun with it. The joy of the older stuff is it’s no longer precious- makes experimenting less daunting.

My word for this year is...JOURNAL IT! I am an almost 80 year old retired art teacher, widowed, no children. I am feeling a strong need to document EVERYTHING. Sort of an "I'm gone.. Now what?" Journal. Not just memories but to assemble the end-of-life information into one packet so that my only family. a brother, will be able to find what he will need in order to take care of my passing. My mom did that for us before she passed and it was the best gift we ever received! Think about it folks...lots to include like account numbers, monthly payments, passwords, charities I contribute to, where to find my will, my banking info, blank checks, tax info, past IRS filings, prepaid funeral info, IRA info, contact phone numbers for people who will need to be called, health and medical info, DNR form, etc. This is the year to assemble it all so I can stop worrying about it. Maybe even decorate the pages a bit as I put this all together. I can keep worrying about it...or I can get started doing something about it. ;)

Happy New Year Lindsay! I LOVE defrag vids and craft room reorgs, along with home reorgs. I learn a lot from them. My favorite thing I learned from you is to store my clear and foam stamps in binders. It's fantastic! I did the same with my dies and stencils. I can find everything, return them where they belong, and I know what I have. Twice I rebought dies and stencils because the packages got lost behind something larger and I found them later. The binders also help me budget: if I see stamps, dies or stencils that are ''omg I want that!'', do I have something similar already? Sometimes I do, sometimes I want it anyway, but it's helped me make better purchase decisions. Also, a deep search for something can take me out of a good creative mojo moment, so knowing where things are saves a lot of time and ideas. It's hard NOT to save useful things, but I'm learning that if they've sat for a couple years, I'm likely not going to use them in something. Unless it's saved for a specific project, I save stuff less these days. It feels good to reuse things, but they don't need to take up drawer space for 4 years waiting to be used. That outlook has also helpmed me retrain the want monster. Am I REALLY going to use that or get into that in the near future? Looking forward to your projects this year! I like your space, I like a lot of your stash- especially old stamps and stencils. Your stuff is loved, your space is loved, and screw anyone that doesn't like it. Their homes ain't in any magazines!!

Thanks so much for your summary. It was helpful to me, especially since some of my supplies have been in a drawer for 40 years, not 4! •Seed beads for instance, 1% have been used, and they just don’t decompose 😉. I’m inspired, just-in-time to Act🏄♂️✅.
@carried9130Күн бұрын
@@Denise11Schultz thank you. Do they make you happy? Do you love the stuff you make and the space you create in? If so, no one else's 2cents matter. If your beads make you happy, that's what matters. I have some things in my stash like that. If you don't want something anymore, donate or marketplace them. Knowing those supplies are being used and loved helps let it go if I know I'm not going to be using it anymore. 30 years ago I bought stuff thinking to get into it later when I have more time- I was working all thw time back then. Now...I'll be lucky if I have 30 more years so my perspective on buying has changed. I need to make more stuff with what I have.

I’m so glad that Mr.Frugal’s job was able to be saved! What a blessing!!! I LOVE watching organization and declutter videos! I told my husband the other day that I just want to turn it upside down into a dumpster and whatever falls, goes! I’ve changed directions of infatuation in crafting and various art mediums, but never got rid of anything as I moved on. Over a year ago, I decided that I wanted to take some of my German Shepherds ashes and put them in resin so that I could carry “a piece of him” in a pendant or something. We lost him very unexpectedly. Resin is a whole other rabbit hole! In looking at Resin, I found the MGA Mini Verse capsules. I went CrAzY 🤪 with it! Then, that took me into 1.6 scale miniatures (Barbie size), so I had to get a doll got my resin foods, which turned into 50-60 thrifted dolls, which then I needed a display, so here comes the tall townhouse with the elevator - which made me miss my 1978 Barbie Dream House mansion (the 3 piece A frame one), so I found that and bought it… only to not really have room, so into my closet it went. And I BUILT a dang room out of Foam Board, magic erasers, pop cycle sticks, scrapbook paper, and, and… 😩 But I LOVE the room I built. There’s a 20 second video on my channel if you’d like to see it. It even has lights and a “working” fireplace. It’s decorated as Christmas now, but can easily be converted to any room I want. 😂😂😂 Whew, my fingers are locking up I’m typing so fast! LOL! My word this year is CREATE. My goal this year is to bring my YT channel back up to where it once was prior to my divorce, child loss and twice over brain injury. I CAN DO IT! 🤷🏼♀️

Congratulations Lindsay, and here’s a way to get the haters to pick something else to do: first you could cut and paste the transcript of your description of the various hands-on consolidation, as titles at the beginning of the video. (About 08:15 - 18:32, you pick.) E.g. “…I was able to consolidate and get everything into my chest of sewing supplies.” •You could make it look like the text at the beginning of Star Wars, disappearing into the horizon. No hater is going to stay for that, they’ll all be gone before the visuals start. •The rest of us will be setting off fireworks 🎆, dancing like no-one’s watching 💃, and clapping.👏 •Then you could show a brief summary slideshow of before and after for each space. •Then you would show us how you did it. No hater is going to last through that, and the rest of us will have either a vicarious thrill, or mirror neurons cleaning along, or stunned amazement followed by a nap. •No problem 😉. You’ll be fine! Thanks for all you do. 👍🏄♂️💜💤

I've never understood people who post hateful comments on your channel. Having those older products available when you are doing reviews saves us money by letting us know that's it's similar to something else. You help us tame our individual want monsters. I find myself repeating your mantra "Use what you have" when looking at yet another pretty collection of paints or inks that I really don't need. There is also a difference between frugal and cheap. Frugal sometimes means spending more money to get a better product that will last much longer. I try to bring you with me whenever I'm shopping to remind me of both of these points.

My husband left the sunroof open in his car once. After we got all the standing water out and squeezed the seats as much as we could, we went to the $1 store and got $20 worth of the desiccant containers. They got rid of so much of the excess water we saved our car from mold and that nasty musty smell. We still had to wipe the condensation off the inside of the windows, but those containers worked wonders!

Actually Lindsay, I LOVE that you have a room of hoard. I am a hobby artist that has a bunch of mis-matched shelves stacked up that I have found off the curb or from Facebook Marketplace. For a few solid years I thought, oh I've gotta buy all that white shelves/beige from IKEA and 'fix' up my artist studio aka bedroom because I wanted to make my room look a certain way. THEN I realised that hey, everything's where it needs to be, and not only that, it would be essentially cutting down the personality of my room to make it look like 'everyone else's on Pinterest'. Seeing your Room of Hoard made me realise "Hey, a lot of places look like this and the whole point of being an artist is self-expression." I also love how your space is constantly curated throughout the years so that it's always updated to your current needs.

I LOVE your room of hoard--you used to film in there and it was great to see how you arranged and stored things. I also love to see your refrags. You run a business: Lots of reviews = lots of product. There are so many craft rooms that look too pristine to actually work in--and they all are white. Nothing wrong with that, but I have repurposed furniture so it doesn't always match. The things from the dollar store are great, too. Ignore the haters and pat yourself on the back for an organized start to the new year!

Happy New Year Lindsey!!! I personally LOVE your defrag videos every year and even just in November was watching one!! They are inspiring, and you are a full time art teacher so it just happens to be that your art school is in your basement! No big deal!! So glad about your husband’s Christmas miracle with his work! 2025 is going to be a great year!!!

Word(s): just do. I'm going to try to just do art/create. I'm thinking about starting a simple grid journal, that seems a little less overwhelming than a fully blank page. :). I always enjoy your Sat Chats! ❤

Just caught the deal since I’m planing to get back to painting and crafting this year after a very long break (about 2 years), during which of course I never stopped the other hobby, buying materials and art supplies. 😅😊

I love love love defrag videos. Here's my take on the quantity of supplies situation: Quality supplies last. Over time, because they last a long time, it's easy to accumulate a nice supply of quality inventory- even if you only make a couple of carefully thought out purchases each year. So yes, I have quite a bit- but I've been curating quality supplies for almost a decade now. At least, that's how I justify my full art room to myself...🤣

Damp Rid is a great product like at dollar tree, that you can get in larger quantities. Save the silca packs out of new shoes or purses, they also have good ones in vitamins and some other meds. Thanks Lindsay

Happy New Year and Saturday Chaturday, Lindsay! I look forward to the defrag, but I saw your oil paint post on IG aligned with the segment around 14:20, and one of my deep dive intentions for 2025 happens to be finally tackling learning oil skills as deeply as possible. It got me thinking, after scanning over everything like it was a candy store, lol, if you would consider a video squeezing out some older paint and, if it's running stiff, what feels best or works best for you to loosen it back up again: linseed oil, walnut oil, alkyd medium, etc. for how you like working. I'll be doing this for myself soon, and I know we're both solvent-minimalist if not solvent-free, and I just like knowing your opinion and experience with things. Thanks always!

They jsut have nothting better to do. YOU are wonderful, talented and so informative I learn so much from you and I am sure others do too. So ignore negative comments and keep happy. OMG the Fascinator! I can remember I absolutely had to have that oversized, over priced stapler and once I got it, it was so hard to get the staples attached correctly. I did eventually give mine away as well. I still have my Making Memories Slice die cutter 😮. I really should let it go, but just can’t bring myself to do it. Looking forward to your defrag video 😊

Definitely getting the defrag bug this time of year. Such a fitting word for the process! I wish I had the same motivation to get things done that I do for planning to get them done. If I had to pick a word of the year... Intention maybe... because I want to do things with intention instead of just floating along doing what's easy or mindless.

I'm a comment reader and saw that one. It got an eyeroll from me. Really? Some are just too picky. I liked that video. I'll enjoy the defrag one I'm sure. It will be interesting to see what you do. I'm so glad your husband's job has worked out. That was no doubt one of the best Christmas gifts to have. Thanks for another great Sat Chat! I think my word for this year is "intentional."

This year I finally go a spark of epiphany and realized that I function best with checklist style trackers. I’m going to transfer part of the one in my planner to my kitchen whiteboard. It includes getting rid of one thing every day. Trash or donate. Intentional. Then I write it on the calendar. I’ve been learning from my Stoic Journal. Memento Mori.

I LOVE Critique Club! So many choices of lovely designs and diverse mediums! Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Lindsay. :) As far as what others "may" think of your working space and studio - I don't think that you should even consider it. We are each unique and work in a unique way. There is always someone out in cyberland that needs to make a statement by bringing someone else down. Remind yourself that no one is forcing them to watch your videos and if they don't know how to scroll by or move on - that is on them, not you. My partner Keith reads comments and is in a perpetual state of being upset at people for being crass or ignorant. I rarely read comments on things I watch because more so than not, you will get one or two or 'those people.' I understand that on your own videos you need to read them all, but whether you engage is a choice you need to make. You will never make everyone happy. Anyway - Happy New Year. Have a good week.

I definitely want to see your defrag video. That is the reality that most of us live with. We don’t have the space for “picture perfect “ studios. I work in my dining room and have stuff everywhere and I wish I had better storage and organization. It’s easy to say but please let go of negative comments. You are so right, they are being spiteful just to be mean.

14:10 The fact that you are even wearing lipstick to me is impressive. It’s not smeared, but even if it was…you’re still several levels above where I am.
