Never check baggage with valuables especially international. I literally pack dirty clothes and underwear when I travel and wash when I get there. I know it's gross but trust me I do it every time I travel. I also take items that look broken and pack food in strategic places that make a mess if you open them like a squished banana. Trust me they don't want to touch my bag! Lol.
