If your playing 18u and your not in Jrs you most likely won’t make it NCAA

Yes and no. There’s still a good shot to make NCAA D3. For NCAA D1, it’s unlikely, but we’ve seen it happen before

Idk if you can really compare the 2. AAA seems to be more of a stepping stone for preschool and NCAA being the main goal.

Yes they are definitely tough to compare, as you probably saw in the video. They both have pros & cons, and every person has a unique situation, so it’s tough to make a general video like this one.

Well since the average age for an NCAA D1 freshman is 21.5 now a days according to the NHL network I think that most have to go play juniors first. Unless you are a Blue chip prospect then it doesn't matter
@ahadvising8
@ahadvising8 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s true, but know that most NCAA D1 commitments happen at the prep and AAA level age. So, the program you pick before even considering Jr does matter

Another awesome video Braeden ! Well done. Can you please make a video or advise how to get from Tier 3 Junior to Tier 2 ? It seems like playing Tier 3 Junior/ Canadian B closes options of getting into NCAA D1. My son is now 18 and playing in EHL . He dreams to play NCAA D1 but has to climb to NAHL /BCHL/NCDC first. Thank you !

Hi Mark, glad you liked the video! And that’s honestly a great topic to talk about, added it to the list. To give you the short answer though, in order to make that kind of jump in Jr. hockey, the player has to have a great season in the lower end league.

The NAHL combine is by far the best as all the NAHL teams are watching at that event. It’s funny you mention this since it’s a topic that’s been on our list for a while. Look out for the video about this in a few months!

There are scholarships available for players in more financially challenging situations. Plus, if the player is really good and multiple programs want him, they’ll offer a great deal

@@ahadvising8 my daughter is a great player but we can only afford public highschool or town teams. All of the decent players end up playing for club or go off to prep school. She is the only decent player who has stayed and no-one is coming to her school or town team to scout or recruit.

How much do letters (B, BB, A ,AA ,AAA) matter to the long term success of a hockey player?
@ahadvising8
@ahadvising8 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on their age. If a player is playing at a lower level when they’re younger, they have time to work their wat up to a higher level. On the other hand, if a player is playing at a lower level when they’re older, they have less time to work their way up. All that said though, letters do matter, but players should never let letters define their future success.

@@ahadvising8 I'm not sure I agree with you, respectfully. The vast majority of kids playing D1 hockey were at the AAA level by the time they were squirts & as such, by the time they're college-aged they've been playing against top competition for nearly a decade. Additionally there's a HUGE difference between the quality of coaching & volume of ice time between PeeWee A & AAA. I don't say this to be discouraging, but rather to say this is probably the last chance the OP's kids will be able to make up a skill deficit between themselves & AAA players, by the time they're 15/16 it will be too late.
@JNJ1014
@JNJ1014 3 жыл бұрын
@@justinwaites2630 I'd take a look at my comment, I love this channel & I don't meant to suggest this guy is misleading anyone but it's necessary to be brutally honest. Your kids have 3-4 years AT BEST to get to AAA caliber if they're seriously looking to play D1. The good thing is it's definitely doable, particularly if they're hungry & you can find the right coaches to correct whatever deficiencies they have. To be clear, I'm not saying "deficiencies" to be discouraging as I've seen star players in A programs who left & DOMINATED AAA Hockey, just saying if they lack certain skills they're young enough to fix their issues. The main thing is it's DEFINITELY possible for them to jump to higher levels now but they have to do it NOW. By the time they're 15-16 it's almost an insurmountable deficit they'd have to overcome, as the coaching, volume of ice time & caliber of competition is FAR better in AAA programs.
