British Airways Boeing 747-400 making a stunning approach over London, before landing at Heathrow 27R.
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you've all had a great holiday, and wishing you a joyous and peaceful 2020.
I had hoped this video would be the last one of 2019, but it took longer to edit than I thought, so I'm here writing this with Jools Holland's Hootenanny ringing in the background!
This is BA108 arriving from Dubai, today operated by G-BNLY in the iconic Landor livery. We join them as they're heading south towards the Docklands and descending to 4500ft, and slowing to 180kts, before turning right to intercept the ILS for Heathrow's runway 27R. We get some spectacular views of the city below, glinting in the mid afternoon winter sun.
The city scenery here is provided by ORBX True Earth GB South, which is heavy on system resources but does look nice.

@@tjfSIM Not a dislike to your video at all, its great i just think TE depicted here looks awfully average. I dont really see what the major advances are over EU England other than more buildings, a slight upgrade to the landmarks, more areas of open space...just dont really see the point in the TE series but hey. Keep the vids up though fella, lovely stuff

@@bradleythomas27 Fair enough mate! I know what you mean - I have trouble working out exactly what each ORBX product offers over the last. I can't say whether it's worth the upgrade over EU England, as in all honesty I can't remember what EU England looked like over London, but I do get where you're coming from. The only thing I would say is that it is pretty accurate geographically, even beyond the major landmarks. As you may have seen in my last video, you can see small villages picked out in quite a lot of detail, which I don't think was true in EU England. I do find ORBX's product range very confusing if I'm honest - trying to work out which products go together and which actually supercede/replace eachother is very difficult - there are now 4 different layers potentially covering the same area, ie for the south of England we have FTX Global, OpenLC Europe, EU England, True Earth Great Britain South - I have no idea which of those work together - and that's before thinking about how they fit with their airport sceneries!

It's filmed at a slower speed, and then sped up during the editing process.

Yeah I'm sick of these misleading videos that are post processed. They make the scenery look as though it performs better than it does. Why not go the whole hog and run it at 30 fps, and use SVP to process the video at 6p fps ? If I want to watch pretty... I'll just watch actual real word aviation videos. What's the fuckin point of this ?

Thank you for your feedback. It is very difficult to film in P3D with ANY scenery enabled and get smooth frame rates, which is why I capture at 1/4 speed and then correct in post. And yes, there is come colour correction and brightness adjustment as well. Aside from that, I put a lot of effort into these videos, both in terms of camera angles and the flying itself - sure, not everyone likes them, I accept that. Thanks for commenting.
