@ROZA PARVEEN Simply use dilution equation (N1V1=N2V2). before that calculate concentration of stock solution. if u r using bottle of acetic acid, find concentration using specific gravity of the acid from its label.

Hi Goh Jia Hui, thank u for asking question. In order to make calculations, you need to provide details given on the bottles of HNO3 and H2O2 as both are in liquid state. Such as density or concentrations of the given solutions. From that desired concentrations can be prepared.

How to prepare 25ppm solution of Hcl from 0.5M stck solution?

first convert 0.5M HCl into PPM then use dilution formula C1V1=C2V2 0.5M HCl = 0.5 x 36.5 (molecular weight of HCl) per 1000ml = 18.25 gm per 1000ml PPM = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 1,000,000 PPM= 18.25/ (18.25 + 1000) x 1000,000 = (18.25/1018.25) x 1000,000 = 17922.9 ppm so the stock is 17922.9 ppm Now u can dilute it to make 25ppm, but how much solution you need that must be known. for example if you need 100 ml of 25 ppm, then 100 x 25 = 17922.9 x V2 V2= 0.1394ml so, u can take 0.1394 ml of the 0.5M stock and add 99.86ml of water that will be your 100ml of 25 ppm

@@hassambhatti9720 PPM = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 1,000,000 in this case, 0.5M HCl means (mass= molarity x molecular weight) 0.5 x 36.5 gm weight per 1000ml of solvent. As per definition, molarity = moles per liter 1 ml of water weigh 1gm 1000ml water = 1000gm of water

@ berwan Mstafa If spilling is on floor, u can use weak base like sodium bicarbonate to neutralize and then soak it off. If contact site is skin, in that case immediately wash it off with plenty of water, u can put some antimicrobial cream. If injury is serious seek medical emergency help.

Sir how will we prepare 47% Naoh to 20% Naoh?? What the calculation for this?

U can use C1V1 = C2V2 equation. But u need to know how much volume you required of 20%NaOH. For example in case u need 100ml of 20% NaOH from stock solution of 47%, in this case: 47% x V1 = 20% x 100ml V1= 20 x 100 / 47 = 42.55ml so you will take 42.55 ml of 47% stock solution and add 57.45 ml of water.

u can visit kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y169d4SKmqmJoLM as per definition if u take 60gm (molecular weight of acetic acid is 60) of powder acetic acid and dissolve in 1000ml, it will make 1N or 1M solution. But acetic acid is liquid hence u have to calculate how much acetic acid volume will contain 60 gm of the compound. That is done by using specific gravity (spg), written on the acetic acid bottle. if spg is 1.0, it means 1ml volume of acetic has 1gm of solid acetic acid dissolved in it. So in this situation, if u take 60ml of acetic acid (100% pure with specific gravity of 1.0) and add 940ml water, it will be the desired solution.

U can use dilution equation: N1 x V1 = N2 x V2 where V is volume and N is concentration 35% x V1 = 5% x 200L V1 = 28.57L Add 28.57 Liter of 35% HCl in 171.43 Liter of Water.

If your stock solution is 100% acetone. Use N1V1=N2V2. Accordingly, 100% x V1 = 80% x 20ml, V1= 80 x 20 / 100 V1= 16ml So you will take 16 ml of stock solution and add 4 ml of water to make 80%, 20ml acetone from a stock of 100%.

yes...it can be done as PPM = (mass of solute/mass of solution) x 1,000,000 lets take an example of say how to convert 20% NaCl solution into ppm using above formula, mass of solute= 20gms mass of solvent= 100gm so mass of solution = 100+20 gms ppm= (20/120) x 1000000 ppm= 1,66,666.67

Your stock (4%) is lower than working solution (10%). So dilution is not applicable. u need to concentrate your volume to 40% of the original. (both liter and gallon are units of volume, using either is fine)

@@proteinengineering007 it reads as this" minimum assay approx. 4%w/v available chlorine. And is a labrotary reagent" when I bought he told to dilute in 10litres of water for a litre of the solution and use to disinfect surfaces. I doubt will it work.

@@newborns9754 ok..what i understood is, you have got concentrated solution of sodium hypochlorite to be used as disinfectant. it has 4% chlorine which is = 40,000ppm. as per instruction if u dilute it 10 times by adding 1 liter solution in 9 liter water, it will still have 4000ppm chlorine. 1000ppm chlorine is known to be good disinfectant. That should be sufficient for your job. so, u just follow instructions given with the chemical. it will work.

Your question is incomplete. U also need to know how much volume of 0.8% is required. I assume U need to prepare 100 ml of 0.8% of any compound. In this case U need to weigh 0.8gm and dissolve in some volume of solvent and finally make the volume to 100ml. If u need to prepare more or lesser volume , amount can be calculated accordingly.
