Hey Glenn , if your ever painting something that you want faster dry times and a nicer finish on and since you have experience with automotive paints anyways, go to your local automotive paint supply store and ask them if they have any mistint base/clear or acrylic enamel or urethanes, which ever you want to spray, but I can usually get quarts of high quality automotive paints for $5 quart and from $20-$40 per gallon depending upon what paint it is. That makes it extremely affordable, plus gives me a better finish, etc. There’s nothing wrong with the rust oleum tho either except I don’t like the longer dry times of the oil based enamels and they don’t tack as quick which allows dirt/bugs to get in which always bug me but for something like this it wouldn’t matter at all. Looks good buddy!!

The guy that lives next door to my shop, used to rent it years ago before I bought it. He is a high end painter and have painted many award winning cars I side back in the day. He gives me paint from time to time, one day I need to go through what I have and all the reducers and hardener and see what is still useable. We do have a few auto parts stores local that do automotive paint and we have an APS store too. I should stop in and see what they have. Thanks

Great video. Would the prep process be similar for a golf cart with a fiberglass shell? My 1985 Yamaha golf cart has a plastic front end and the rest of the body is fiberglass. Thanks.

Yep... prep is the same. Good luck! Glenn

Can this be done without disassembling? I don't want to disassemble my golf cart. I would rather cover the parts not to be painted.

Rustolium at your local home improvement store. The paint shelves are a bit scarce these days, good luck finding your color.

Is this the same Rust-Oleum I can get at Lowes that's made for painting metal? Also do you worry that it will dry rigid and crack instead of flexing with the plastic?
@GlennsSpeedShop3 жыл бұрын
Yep... not worried...

Look at my Avatar, the Mystery Machine is all painted with Rustolium over 8 years AGO

But the golf cart is plastic right? So wouldnt you get it for plastic or does the metal rust-oleum works better?

@@GlennsSpeedShop Can you add a glitter to the paint and if so, would you do it on the final spray?

I have been using it for decaees, no regrets. My 1965 Ford Econoline Supervan Camper Van (The Mystery Machine) Is also painted using quarts of Rustolium from Home Depot. Over 10 years now, is starting to show thin on the aluminum roof, easy repaint on the roof.

How good the rest oleum paint hold up on the plastic 24:00

If you care for it and wax it regularly, it holds up well. My van is Rustolium and was painted like 10 years ago, just waxed it, looks good. It had a Photoshoot on Monday.

I'm glad you can't spray paint anymore because you can't spell. This gives up body and paint guy the wrong idea that a joe blow can do this. What a joke i charge double when someone does this.
