I would love to hear your opinion on modding a rotary. As in all of the machine work that can be done. Might need to be in a separate video. Keep up the great info you provide in these videos man, been watching for a while.

I could probably swing that in a video, ill talk about it in the engine build video.

Permatex is good, I used Aviation Form-A-Gasket on mine, you paint the coolant seal channels with it and when it goes tacky, it's ready to hold the coolant seals. It's like a thick brown paste.

THANKS SO MUCH for the tip about using a syringe to apply the gasket sealant. Ive used that exact sealant on gaskets and it's so sticky it can be difficult to work with. I've been using zip ties to scoop and smear it on, but looking forward to trying a syringe next time.

Awesome video man! I feel like “most fd guys don’t wanna scratch their paint” was a subtle stab hahaha

currently looking to replace all my accessory gaskets, what gasket kit that is that @ 9:00

is it necessary to always replace the oil control rings themselves? or just the soft seals the go on the inside and outside of them?

Do u do any clearancing of the sides of the apex seals themselves? Heard of people shaving down apex seals to just shy of the width of the rotor housing, was wondering what ur take on that was. Also, is using turbo housings on an NA engine going to change anything? All I’m aware of that’s different is exhaust sleeves. Thanks!

I never have. I have had to clean up the apex seal groove after a broke apex seal tore up the rotor.

Perfect timing. I was planning on putting my engine together next week since i just got my parts. But now that i watched the video and you mentioned coating the parts in WD40 after cleaning them im kind of scared haha. I cleaned mine last week and forgot to do that. I wont be at the shop before next week. So any tips for removing the surface rust on the parts before assembling?
@RADPotential3 жыл бұрын
surface rust will come off with a semi aggressive cleaning pad, or a tougher rag. the flash rust from a couple days wont be too crazy. if you let it sit for a few months thats where it can start to get hard to remove. id make sure you got all the rotor seal grooves clean from any debris/dust from the rust as well.

Quick question, if you had everything you needed ahead of time how long start to finish (about).
@RADPotential3 жыл бұрын
Start, being the start of assembly? Or start being tearing down an engine for rebuild

Question, have you modified the front iron oil pump passages? Chips Motorsports shared a very detailed video, do you think it would be worth the risk to try something similar by hand? kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJOumnZno9Z5pqM
