That curry looks intense (like a molten sunset 😂). Baguette is nice but an ordinary loaf of Gardenia or Sunshine bread goes surprisingly well with curry too. The slight sweetness complements the savoriness of the curry very well.

I’ve never seen KZbinrs, local or foreigners, going to the other side of Chinatown, the local side instead of the tourist area. The local side has some interesting places like the old reservoir at the Pearl Hill’s Park, Tan Tock Seng’s grave site, People’s Park Food Centre, cheap toiletries, very old estates, a restaurant on top of a multi-storey car park so on and so forth. It’s always the Souvenir Alley. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We have a recent vlog actually at pearl hills park and some of the places around there at night. We have explored the other side but not made a video, yet! Perhaps we can do that sometime too. We wanted to go here to see the market and with the kids in town we decided to stay in one spot. Thanks for your suggestions.

@@WONDERLUSTworld Also you might want to explore the Chin Swee Road area. Inside there’s a basketball court. What’s unique about it is that, if you come in from certain block, you’ll be on the fifth floor but if you arrive from another block, it is on the ground floor. It’s like a mini Chonqing as well as reminding you of that famous Hong Kong basketball court at a residential. It’s because the area is built on a hill. That area also has free clinic for the residents, a hawker centre and a bunch of stray cats. Also if you’re free next Sunday during CNY if you have no house visit, I suggest you go to CBD area, especially at the start of Robinson Road across the MAS building. You’ll be able to see a different world. A whole empty street and it will look like you have step into another world like The Matrix or an empty New York street or an apocalypse where you are the only people that have survived. It’s quite a scene ✌🏼

I think main streets are getting lame. The mochi are getting worse in taste and it's almost scammy. It's by weight and we can't know if the scale have been tempered with. I almost got scammed once when I refused to pay unless he weigh again as I already argar it on the scale piror finalizing(it's supposed to be cheaper than he quoted me) . And your vid is my first time hearing you need to buy 1 kg min. There's another channel called yuki family or smthg. She went to another location with more traditional goods.

As this was our first time we haven't nothing to compare it to. I'd like to think we wouldn't be cheated out of pocket, we had an inkling it happened to us before as with cameras we may appear as tourists. We wished we had said something but it was too late. We chose not to let it spoil our experience and just be a bit more vigilant and aware before we buy in future. Check the prices etc I can use Yuki Family's channel to improve my mandarin! Lots of places have markets for Chinese new year which we love.
