I will participate in this inktober, i have never done an inktober, im not even that big into drawing stuff but i think this will be very fun, i like the freedom in all the prompts, very excited to see your art too, wow this is exciting stuff, thanks for all your hard work poggy

As someone who has done like two of them, heed this advice at your own peril! 1.) Challenge yourself, but make the challenges reasonable. 2.) Don't worry if you miss a day. Life comes first and everyone has different level of responsibility and work load. 3.) Use color ONLY if you want to. Ink can be other colors, by the way. You don't have to use black. (It may even make you stand out a bit, which sets you apart from others. Don't just follow what other people do.) 4.) Have fun! Otherwise, what's the point? Competitive art can become a weird toxic space...so I don't bother with what everyone else does. 5.) Make you own prompts! Use any method to randomly generate your prompts. Mix it up! Combine ideas! (I had an idea, never did it, but my idea was to draw two prompts from a hat and draw them mashed up, like a battle, or like some beautiful monstrosity. Just one page, but with two prompts clashing for visual dominance! Feel free to use this or your own ideas.)

It's funny that you said you're not a storyteller/comic artist, but your sketches and drawings always seemed to me to be exactly that! That there's a story behind it that is :). (and I don't mean the story of how you drew it of course, the characters (at least absolutely most of them) just seem so alive and living that they must have some story of their own. :)

I'm doing my own modified version of slowtober - Week 1: broad research and experimentations (any topic, no theme, whatever) Week 2: choose a loose theme and further develop research and experimentations around it Week 3: Come up with and develop an idea for a final piece Week 4: Create the piece It's an adapted and simplified version of how my projects were structured at college. It forces you to take your time and consider what you're making, going completely against the way social media has influenced artists and creators in recent years. It's rare that many of us would be able to dedicate a whole month to really developing a piece in this type of way so the change of pace will be nice.

I recently got my first moleskin sketchbook in early September, and yeahh I did notice that it doesn’t hold water at all, but I really like how it takes ink and pencil!

I'm doing inktober this year, just got into art again. I'm not very good, but if I try really hard I am pretty okay with how stuff turns out. :) I have a tablet, however I enjoy working on my phone because drawing with the tablet is really hard for me, and on my phone I can whip it out and draw whenever. I'm glad that you said it should be fun and you can mold it to your needs because it seems a bit tough to do "ink drawings" when I want to draw digitally. So to add a challenge I'm only going to use brushes with "ink related names" aka, pencils and stuff with non ink implying names will not be allowed for me to use. I'm setting up a schedule and list of ideas so I don't get bored and I really want to commit to improving so I'm only allowing myself 7 days off. Thanks for making this video! I tried doing inktober last year but got immensely burnt out, quit halfway through and didn't draw until mid december lol. I'll probably try the small doodle thing but won't focus too much on it because I've been steady on the anatomy study grind and I don't want to lose pace or interest again.

That's why i always choose my favourite promts, and make a drawing in like a few days. I draw fast enought and i would be able to do one illustration a day, but i am also a perfectionist and i always ruin the illustration cause i keep going over it and idk, doing one drawing in more days sort of prevents me from that😭

I took part in inktober last year to push myself to draw more often. Welp, I guess I pushed myself too hard, because I got so burnt out I stopped drawing for almost a year. I thought I'd give up drawing for good, but nope, still draw from time to time, although I'm still recovering. So I guess I'm done with inktobers for now... Anyway, good luck to you! That's very unfortunate. You can always select a few prompts that you want to draw especially if you are trying to put in alot of detail. Personally I decided to use a scribble style of art so that I will be able to complete my drawings relatively quickly.

I really liked this video! I've been feeling anxious because I wanna do the whole month but im not as inspired by some of the prompts listed, but now I feel a little better about mixing and matching 😂 I always try to hone in on something to improve on for inktober since I'll be consistently drawing and this year I'm choosing legibility, since I often take a few steps back from my art and realized it's hard to read 💀 I'm super excited to see what everyone does this year!!!

Been drooling over the colored inks and fountain pens from Ferris Wheel Press, as i see it all the colored inks would be fantastic for the inktober challenge unfortunately it will be at least another year or more before I can indulge in getting the range id love, so its back to basics of black pen and when that all seems too dark using whatever colors i can get hold of as so many places no longer shipping while in lockdown

I think what is helping me prep for Artober is doing it once a week with seven prompts in one drawing. Like starting each Friday 1-7 week one, 8-14 week two, 15-21 week three, 22-28 week four, and 29-31 on the final days. That way, I'm getting used to filling the pic up with multiple things instead of just one, and pacing myself with sketching and coloring throughout the week w/o rushing in one day.

I am doing inktober for the fourth time this year. Usually have a lot of trouble trying to match the prompt with a drawing I like, I mean I can draw something but this year I want to really try and make it something I like. So I stretch the words to the edge of their meaning. I also tried sketching out all my drawings before hand so I can really enjoy this month! I did it last year and I made inktober a lot more fun. I don’t have to make anything up cause I already did that! So I can just draw and color and play around with supplies ! Can’t wait! Only have to prep the sour prompt and the last two 😂🤫🥰

I love inktober this will be my third year participating. I have made thumbnails for every prompt but that is as far as I’m willing to go(personally). The fun for me is the challenge of clearing the level each day and not sweating the small stuff. My goal is making it to level 31😜🤪 When your doing a challenge like this if you’re not having fun....... what’s the point 🤷‍♀️ Have fun everybody and see you in the other side.

I think if you're going to call it inktober, it makes sense to use ink in some way. Even if it's just an outline that's filled in with something else or the ink is an embellishment on top of another medium. However, I also see inktober as a sort of artistic holiday, so it's okay to "celebrate" it however works for you. Protip: When doing a challenge like this, it helps to give yourself a set amount of "vacation" days that you can use as needed. It allows you to miss a day without feeling like you've failed (since you're just using one of your vacation days), but because you have a limit to how many days you have off, it keeps you from feeling careless about missing days.

Last year it was my first time joining Inktober and I did more than one list. Chosed my faves of each, as well as made my own list too. I finished mine and well the majority of what I picked from others, in simple and different formats, but on a few I had to gave way half the way... it was indeed a challenge but I had more time too. This year I don't want to burn myself out, however my brain has different thoughts 😂 I have two prompt lists chosen, that are relatively simple and not daily which is great! I only got like, three days in last Inktober. I had been using a much larger sketchbook then and I just wasn't really inspired by any of the prompts, honestly, so it went downhill pretty fast. This year, however, I'm hoping to do a lot better. I recently got a smaller sketchbook, and I'm planning on using some gouache, along with ink, of course. I'd like to do some sort of limited palate kind of thing for each day, so that could be fun. Maybe I could blindly pick a color for each day? That could be cool. I've learned that I like using brushes to line things over dip pens. I wouldn't say I'm the best at it, though I'm at least decent enough. I dunno, there's just something fun about using a brush instead. Maybe it's the fact that it can be a bit unpredictable at times, so you sometimes just have to let things happen, or maybe it's just the wider line variety you can get from a brush.

Regarding materials that you draw with, not everyone has lots of ink lying around. I like the idea of it being an event that gets people to draw/create art, but what about people who want to do it, but don't have a lot of ink based supplies? I have plenty of markers, paints, colouring pencils, etc. Is it ok to pick a medium that you just have a lot of, instead of ink? (The only thing I have that is ink is a bottle of blue ink from a calligraphy set and a handful of fineliners that are (most likely), drying up.

Just use whichever medium you like. I've never seen anybody caring about that aspect of the challenge. And there's no ink police. If you want to use ink, any pen is fine. If you want to use something else, do that.

ballpoint pens use ink as well, that is a writing medium many people still have and is often overlooked as a drawing/sketching tool, so there might be more supplies than you think. But if you really don't have any ink based supplies, there is no shame in using different supplies, the challenge alone will be a good learning eyperience, regardless of material used.

Anything really! I've seen folks use ballpoint pens, India ink, calligraphy pens, etc. Just depends what you prefer/want to use, I've even seen people use markers and paint pens. Not sure how I feel about those personally, but hey the goal is to do a prompt every day sooo as long as that's what the aim is, pretty much anything goes
