What do you do for Lent to help you and/or family grow closer to Jesus?
@alanbourbeau245 жыл бұрын
A Catholic Mom's Life Well my goals are for Lent are as follows. 1. Cut back on sugar intake 2. Start working out daily 3. Attend the sacrament of reconciliation 4. Attend Stations of the Cross ✝️. 5. Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy everyday at 3:00 🕒 pm. 6. Pray the Holy Rosary daily. 7. Pray for those who suffer physical disabilities like my girlfriend. 8. Spend more time with my family and less time on my iPhone. 9. Stop listening to negative music and listen to more Christian Gospel music. 10. Stop watching negative news on tv. 11. Watch Christian movies. The Passion of the Christ, Heaven is for real, God’s not dead franchise. 12. Lend a helping hand out to others at work and elsewhere. Those are my goals. If I fail, I’ll pick myself up and start over again.

This is my first Lent in about 10 years where I'm actively a part of the Church (Haven't gotten Confirmation yet, but working on it!) I did my first Reconciliation in ten years tonight, and after I prayed in the chapel for a bit and was walking back to my dorm, I was honestly overcome with emotion, I was crying to myself a little bit. I can't wait for next Sunday, because that's the next Mass I'll be able to attend, and it'll be my first time receiving Communion since I was about 9 years old. For Lent, I think I'm going to try to start going to a weekly student bible study on campus to add to what I learn in my RCIA classes, and hopefully, God willing, do a weekly Rosary.

I'm so excited for Lent. Here in the Philippines those who do fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday like me just eat one full meal the whole day. No small meals or snacks. It's quite an experience as well. I would also like to suggest that when your children are older you do what we call "Bisita Iglesia", which is translated as Church Visit. What we do is we go to seven churches and pray two stations per church. It's a great way to bond with the family while you go to different churches to meet different people of the same faith. God bless you!

I'm a Christian and I had a friend that is a Wiccan and Easter and Christmas are pagan holiday. God told us many times in the bible NOT allow the pagans nor do celebrate their holiday. I will pray for ALL Christians who are celebrating a pagan holiday. I pray God will save your soul.

Reflections of a Catholic Mom Wiccan Spring Equinox Celebration. ... Wiccans and other neopagans observe the day as Ostara, a festival that celebrates the season's change from dark winter to brightening spring. Ostara is one of 8 neopagan sabbats, or holidays, that make up the Wheel of the Year. Look it up, AGAIN I had a friend who is Wiccan and Christmas is Yule a pagan holiday. They were before Christians came so I fear for my Christians brothers and sisters who do "Easter" and "Christmas" will end up in hell because they are following the pagans. Jesus never said to celebrate his death nor his birth.

@@ACatholicMomsLife Basically there's a booklet, you read the Sunday Gospel reading, and then there's usually a story or two that go along with it, and you talk it out with the other members of the group. We meet once a week for a couple hours. (this year is going to be interesting for me, I installed in the Rosary Altar Society in the beginning of the month, and we say the Rosary at 5:15 on Tuesday's, Mass at 6, and then renew for 2 hours at 7-7:30, it's going to be interesting juggling all of that lol) It's a really great group though, and it's really good for getting ideas on how to make lent mean even more! This is my first Lent and I'm trying to introduce the Catholic practice to my 4 year old son without getting in over my head or confusing the mess out of him. What I've done is organize some folders for Ash Wednesday and Holy Week with different activities for each day. I'm going to have him fill a big plastic tub full of toys that he can't open until Easter. Then I'm doing a sacrifice jar where everyone will put a bean in a jar for every sacrifice or act of kindness they do. Then on Easter the jar of beans will be full of jelly beans!
