I just finished 6 months of SWAT school. This is a great guide. If your goal is SWAT you should apply all these principles in your training.

Swat can suck a dick, my laziest marine can out perform you. You guys need all weapons and gear to terrorize people in their homes while scratching their balls. I never understood while the suspect is on handcuffs you cowards still are pointing your weapons. Believe me, Citizens are more likely to get kill by a cop than a terrorist.

Seems like this training program could be a recepie for overtraining for many people. Adaptation occurs during recovery. Be careful and take it slow and listen to your body.
@RDA81913 жыл бұрын
2 days of weight training and a moderate running program is a recipe for overtraining? Holy balls. The overtraining myth is nonsense for 99% of people. If Olympic athletes aren't overtraining, you weekend warriors aren't even close. Warm up appropriately and you can train hard 5-6 days a week. This overtraining shit is an excuse for lazy people. Overtraining is real, but you're not even close. Get back to me when you're doing 2 a days, 7 days a week.

What additional training would you recommend, i have 4 years before i can apply as im just starting my schooling.

@PrepMedic2 жыл бұрын
If 50% of any class was hospitalized your department has a horrible program and I would highly recommend you look elsewhere. That’s frankly an inexcusable number.
@zachj64232 жыл бұрын
@@PrepMedic yeah, it's more of a hazing than actually learning anything. Only the guys that train with, and have an "in" with the SWAT team get selected. Like I said, half the candidates were hospitalized (around 15) in a group of 30 candidates. Only 3 people finished the hell week and 1 was selected. They will get the ones they don't want on the team to quit.

There’s literally NOTHING that can prepare anyone physically for a SWAT school. I made it through only 2 and a half days of one. Imagine the hardest CrossFit workout but from 7am until 11pm, no water breaks, no bathroom breaks, just pure hell until my kidneys failed. Dumbest thing I have ever done in my life.
@PrepMedic22 күн бұрын
I mean 7-11 with no water breaks isn’t testing a standard, it’s pointless hazing and probably a good sign you don’t want to work for them anyways

Depends on your department, some places have schools that are like boot camp all over again, some places have a course that’s like selection, others are kind of just you do some pt, some training, and book knowledge and you’re in. It differs from place to place.

Can you be a paramedic if you have a criminal background
@PrepMedic3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the background. Felonies are tough to get a job in healthcare with. Not necessarily impossible but you need special permission from the state etc to even get your cert. misdemeanors are easier so long as you didn’t get it in away that makes you untrustworthy around vulnerable populations
