I have a total thyroid surgery on December...I’m not really worried about the surgery itself but the post surgery or the side effects...my main concern is weight gain because I’m overweight already😩😩 Wish me luck guys that the surgery goes well👍🏻

This makes me feel better. I more and likely have hyperthyroidism. My TSH levels are low and I fit almost all of the symptoms. I’m scared to take Radio active iodine. And I know you can only take the pills for 12-18 months and if they don’t work you are left with surgery or iodine. Putting something something radioactive inside of you is weird to me and I’m scared to go under the needle lol.

Just been learning how important Iodine is for the health of the Thyroid. So many members of my family have had Thyroid operations, including my mother, who had all hers removed. She was told later by other doctors, it's best if possible not to have all the Thyroid removed. It's a good idea to ask your surgeon if it is necessary that the whole gland be removed? The Thyroid plays such a major role in the whole body. I am now taking Iodine to protect my Thyroid.

Why my thyroid gland gets swollen and when eating certain foods it shrinks to almost gone. It's like a yoyo. My ENT specialist says I have Goiters. Is there an alternative to surgery?

i will be having full thyroid removal in the next few weeks. I have not met with the surgery team yet though and I am wondering if this is an outpatient procedure or will I stay the night at the hospital?

It's not an out patient procedure,ENT is best for this kind of a surgery,normally done with general anaesthesia.

Thanks for sharing next month I’m going to surgery I feel so nervous and scared I’m hyperthyroidism in 10 years taking a pill maintenance and once a year go to biopsy but this time my doctor suggests me to surgery I have 2cm nontoxic goiter and sometimes It’s hard to breathe and sometimes I can’t swallow the food so my doctor say if I don’t want remove maybe in the future will become cancer
