Preparing Plants for Reptiles!

Cleaning plants before putting into reptile tanks is very important! I hope some of you that see this actually follow through and clean the plants you get from really anywhere!

There's actually a better way to get the soil off plants. Just get a basin of water and swish the plants around in it until all the soil washes off. Way less damage. :)

Nice! I just happened to do this yesterday (before I saw your video so what a coincidence) and I basically did the same thing. I used Earthgro Topsoil from Home Depot, which is basically pure dirt without any fertilizers or nutrients. I mixed it with a little bit of sphagnum moss to give it some space to breathe a be hydrated since sanitized dirt can be pretty dry and dense. Of course I planted pothos and polka dot plant (for my AFT gecko) because they're hardy plants that can survive rough-ish conditions; wouldn't know how the nerve plant or pilea would fare. They're common house plants so I think they'd do fine. I would think topsoil is much safer

Hey awesome video! Really helps because I just made a custom spray foam background and I'm planting some plants later today. My question is: I'm getting a bromeliad from Josh's Frog I believe it's the "fireball" bromeliad but should I plant that in sphagnum moss or bark?

I know this is an old video but it popped up when i googled something. I just got two bearded dragons and seen which succulents and plants are safe to keep inside their cage that they can eat on. My question is the soil. Wont the soil make them sick? I watched the video and seen for the frogs you washed soil off and planted plants in a new soil. What do i do for bearded dragons?

I always recommend washing the soil away from the roots as best you can. Chances are it wouldn't make them sick even if you didn't.
