@@siphonophorespiral When I was younger and ignorant, I used to think schizophrenia and mental illness was such an excuse or something that people made up. Fast forward decades later of dealing with trauma and I find myself in a mental hospital. Spreading the knowledge can help everyone indeed. It's one of those things that until you experience mental illness yourself, you may never actually know exactly how we feel. But that doesn't mean you can't educate yourself more and more every day.

I have a friend with schizophrenia. It's taught me so much! None of you are monsters! She takes her medication and she still sometimes sees things and hears things. When we're together, she'll ask me if I see or hear something, unless she knows it's something that's really out of place. She once saw a man cooking on a BBQ grill in the middle of the aisle when we were at a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. She did ask me, because each table had a hibachi grill. This is about as bad as it gets for her with her meds. You're not alone! ✌🏻

My uncle had pretty severe paranoid schizophrenia and couldn't really lead a normal life. But was one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. People need to know the majority of schizophrenics are *not* violent, let alone "monsters" and have to deal with challenges most couldn't imagine. I'm also grateful to Mike for his portrayal of these women who were so horribly murdered and traumatized.

I'm crying just thinking about her. Imagine having the absolute worst, most nightmarish start in life, somehow persevering, then finding the love of your life, only for him to do THAT. Then, beyond all odds, you somehow find love again...only to lose him to quite possibly one of the most painful ways to die. She couldn't take it anymore. And how can you blame her? How can you go on in life, after suffering so much during your time on this earth? No one would want to hang around for another several decades, expecting more of the same.

I keep thinking of the trauma for the survivor of that scene of carnage, Ann. She already needed to hide under covers and with music to sleep, had already had some sort of childhood trauma that lingered to effect her ability to sleep. @RustFox thank you for clarifying that fact.. I have noticed very, very few are referred to by just first & last (Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Aileen Wornous -dont know the spelling) and it has been stated that giving "nicknames" gives some serial killers get some level of legitimacy so its not a great idea, but there are a few who did their work for decades unidentified and the nicknames given to those killers have stuck (Dennis Rader = BTK, Gary Ridgeway = Green River Killer) but you make an excellent point, hopefully there will never be another John Wayne Gacy or Richard Ramirez (but sadly, that is _highly_ unlikely).

What of the notorious killers who are called by only first & last names though? Is it because their names are juuuussssst unique enough to not be likely to be confused with someone else? @MintyBingus

@@St.Linguini_of_Pesto It could be because their names are less common. John Smith is a name thousands of people could have, but Ted Bundy isn't. Bundy simply isn't a surname you'll encounter all that often, so it's less likely to cause harm.

It's sadly quite common for people to overdose after leaving prison because they don't realise their body's tolerance of whichever drug will have reduced due to not being able to use to the same degree in prison. u know what's the worst part about this? it's that i can genuinely feel with every sense of my body how nice and friendly the mood must have always been in that household. for some reason where ever i go in life i always end up surrounded by bpd people and what Mike had told i imagine the general baseline dynamics in that house being similar to a nice calm safe friendly sleepover. everyone being just very nice and soft spoken, aware of the other's illnesses and always being mindful of them and everything, tryna help each other recover any way they can. stuffs like that

This is the VERY FIRST time that I’ve ever received a compliment in regards to my BPD. I never really thought about the ways in which it has been a strength. I’ve always just considered it a curse..never considering our high levels of empathy, self awareness/and how much more love we have to give-than other people do. We truly feel 5x happier, sadder, angrier…we have to learn to take the bad, with the good. Thank you so much for the valuable insight. You have completely changed my perspective.

@@Kenzingo wow I never considered that my comment would be so impactful for someone but I'm really glad that it was. But yes it's absolutely true especially for quiet BPD that manifest inwards instead of outwards. I especially hate all the crazy ex girlfriend type stereotyping about the disorder like I'm not even joking every single girlfriend I ever had, was sooner or later diagnosed with BPD and it's nothing like the stereotypes. Also I'm just realizing I'm probably encountering an excessive amount of people with this disorder cuz it's somewhat more common amongst artists and I've only went to art schools XD

This was such a sad sad story. I feel so badly for Anne. I can't imagine waking up to the Carnage of her friends. Why do some of the cops always try to put the blame on someone who isn't as smart as most people are? They seem to think it's going to make them a big man until somebody shows up that actually did it and they look like idiots. I am going to have to say that this is particularly horrifying. They had mental health issues but had full lives and we're sweet, caring people and to be slaughtered and defiled like that is so disturbing. I can't imagine how the survivor managed after this. She already had trouble sleeping and it saved her life but to know the person was standing over her. How could you sleep again after that ? I have chronic insomnia and I'm prescribed a really strong cocktail of drugs to sleep at night but due to childhood trauma and an ex that broke in several times and I woke up to him standing over the top of me. I am still a very light sleeper and I'm up on alert at the slightest noise out of place. I don't think I would ever be able to sleep again after something like this.

Also I struggled with emotions, being very stiff which would help make me feel, be extra emotional. I would end up breaking down crying heavily just because the sky looked so beautiful. I can see him totally getting so emotional at hearing about their stories that he felt like confessing to the murder so their loved ones could have closure. Its weird but I kinda understand it, I can see how easy it is to get flooded with emotions and say something you'll end up regretting.

I grew up eating fish and chips since I was a child, and you really can’t beat hot chips with salt and vinegar slapped into an old newspaper for only a few dollars.
