I have been watching all the main guys that use Reaper. and for some awesome reason when say the same things they do, the way you say it sticks in my brain better. I have learned a ton about key commands and general workflow and I gotta say thank you. Keep posting Ill keep learning!

Hey, just worked through all three parts of this and wanted to say THANK YOU so much. Never knew where to really start with mixing since everything in a song seemed to influence the feel of everything else.

U seems enjoy the mixing process, but not the song😅 yaa me too. I watch your entire videos from part 1 to this. Just realize that i missing some step, gain staging, and i did it in a wrong way. Thanks to you i learn many things from your videos. 😊

Is there per chance a video detailing the final touches after this rough mix has been completed? It'd be great to see the entire process!

Hey dude! This is a fantastic series, really loving it. Did you bounce the tracks out as stems after the gain staging video, or do you leave the items with their volumes still set lower? Cheers!
@LetsTalkAboutReaper2 жыл бұрын
I typically leave them as-is, I like having the flexibility to make adjustments if I need to. In my opinion, there's not really any need to print the tracks after just adjusting the item gain, as nothing significant has really changed. Typically people will "print" tracks if they want to bake in a effect or something in order to save processing power, or perhaps if they are running audio through outboard gear and need to free up that gear (compressor, EQ, etc) so they can run something else through it for process

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper thank you so much for getting back to me with a clear explanation. That makes complete sense, so I won't bother bouncing then just after setting initial gain levels. 👌 Loving your content. Easy to consume and learn from! Thanks again!

Thank you for your hard work. Always informative and breathtaking. I recently switched to reaper from studio one. I wonder if you’re able to advise why i’m hearing a screeching sound even when reaper isn’t playing. It happens as if I have it open and I can’t seem to figure out the problem. It was all going well for me and then that problem.
@LetsTalkAboutReaper3 жыл бұрын
that's a tough one to diagnose without screenshots or more information. feel free to join us on Discord where you can share screenshots, audio samples, etc, and let's see if we can get this figured out. discord.gg/FMjQYGuauy

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper the screen shot won’t help. Is there a diagnostic thing on it I can run which can tell me which plugin or routing might be causing the problem?
@LetsTalkAboutReaper3 жыл бұрын
Do you get the noise even with no plugins? Do you have tracks armed with input monitoring enabled? There's a lot of variables and I'm not quite sure where to start. The screenshots would definitely help me, anyways
@votoking6743 жыл бұрын
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper I have lots of plugins on and maybe it might be one of them causing it. How do I turn on input monitoring. What does it do? Is there a performance thing I can turn on which shows the plugin that’s working when the sound comes on?
@LetsTalkAboutReaper3 жыл бұрын
Input monitoring is enabled by default in R6 so that if you have a mic or instrument plugged in and arm a track, you can hear it through REAPER mad whatever plugins you may have on a track. There is a toggle on/off button on each track, but I can't share screenshot on YT I know you thought otherwise, but Discord would be REALLY beneficial to be able to help you better. I cant your setup or anything here, and neither of us can post a screenshots that might give some clues as to what's causing your issue. Could be a plug-in, could be a routing issue, could be a handful of things, but it's quite difficult to troubleshoot over text. Please consider hopping into the Discord group so I and the other members can offer better assistance

Interesting video! I also like to make basic High an Low Pass filtering when building a rough mix, some tracks may not need much more than that ;) What's your take on this approach? Keep up the great work man
@LetsTalkAboutReaper3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I'm all for using as few plugins as possible. For one, it's easier on your system, and for two, you typically get the job done a lot faster without creating unnecessary headaches

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Definitely! I'm getting used to Channel strip plugins for the same reason, currently using the Dead Duck Software ones :) have you worked with these type of plugins?

Yup, I used to use dead duck plugins quite a bit. As of late I've been enjoying the plugin alliance channel strips and psp infinistrip

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper That's nice, do you go for a particular console/sound?
@LetsTalkAboutReaper3 жыл бұрын
I have no prior experience with any real consoles, so I just try them and see what they sound like with the source material. I do rather enjoy the plugin alliance focusrite console. And the 80's preamp in psp infinistrip has a nice sound to it. I really can't even explain what I like, they just all seem to do something sightly different to transients and impart their own bit of character
