One thing i missed in the placement, was the hip part. Those 2 diagonal bones which stick up, they need to be around where a hip would end right, like at the top of the hip? Same like the for the "ball" of the foot, not sure if that is correct name, i mean the location over which it rolls at the front. But i guess that's why this one is a intermediate tut series

When I generated, the skeleton scaled up massive, bigger than their default size. I applied all transforms and scale/rotation to both the model and the skeleton. The 'rig' part is the correct scale, just the bones or armature part (however it's called) scaled up. Maybe it's not an issue? Love your channel by the way, discovered it literally an hour ago and already made more progress than a week of searching other places!
@lucianomunoz4 жыл бұрын
You need to apply that in object mode to the armature, its not correct that if you fit your meta rig that it outputs a bigger or smaller rig, should be exactly the same, otherwise fitting the armature makes no sense at all. Thanks im glad it´s helping! Hit that like and subscribe button to help the channel grow and me create more videos :)
@Inlet4 жыл бұрын
@@lucianomunoz Thanks for the speedy reply, it's fixed it now... well, the metarig and armature were right but the model scaled up, but just scaling it down so it fit within the rig didn't cause immeduate issues. However, after applying it (as in part 3), it works on the model's clothing (seperate models), but not on the body itself. It brings up "Bone Heat Weighting: failed to find solution for one or more bones " message? It's too late to like and subscribe, already done it! And hit the bell for notifications!

It's not necessary at all, but if as an animator you want to be able to do your own pieces/animate your own characters, at least learning how to use an autorig is useful, In production we use a bunch of rigging techniques to ease the animation process but you time is always better spent learning to be a better animator that's for sure, at least that's how i see it :).

why ? whats your problem with rigify?, thanks for the nice comments !, I'll keep it up!

Don't get me wrong it's a great tool to start learning to rig and animate with! It just doesn't have soft IK, twist controls, modular parts, etc and i have to rebuild almost the entire rig to do more advanced character animation. Aaaand i don't like it's custom shapes but that's only a cosmetic complaint ; )
@lucianomunoz4 жыл бұрын
@@JimKroovy Yeah i agree with most of what you say, but what do you mean it doesnt have modular parts? its all modules that you plug together, the bendi controls arent great they could be much better, but that should go into a "feature request list" haha that we could give the guy, or maybe we just learn how to make rig types, which I probably will end up doing. and regarding the shapes, I have my own issues not only with the shapes but with the colors, things that I will touch upon in part 3, given that its part of the Rig's UI/UX that is very important, the faster you understand what each control does, the faster you get up to speed to start animating, and also coloring and shape and size will tell will help visually define sides, function and hierarchy. so not just cosmetic.
@JimKroovy4 жыл бұрын
@@lucianomunoz I haven't actually used rigify in ages so maybe they added more modularity to it? Either that or i just never figured out how to do it in a modular way. My biggest issue is it not having many controls that i rely on, so that's partially a personal issue with it : ) Yeah 100% the faster you learn the controls the faster you can animate! I don't often use colouring to define the sides though i probably should do (at least for targets and poles) If you like we can chat on Discord or Twitter? I love talking about rigging in Blender and would totally be up for putting forward a feature request for Rigify!
