Thanks for the shout out mate. Good points about networking too, same thoughts here. I think someone needs to get something initiated with that. Ref the Prepper Meet, it desperately needs organising, instead of the way it has been run. There should be a central area to meet and chat, maybe with a fire pit, and maybe an area for people to give presentations in their areas of expertise. Not commercialised like the Bushcraft Show, but at least semi organised.

So far then, East Anglia, Wales and Midlands have events, correct? I live in the North West, Lancashire in the Forest of Bowland. I am going to try and find out who's up for such an event in my area. We have a showground just down the road, 2 in fact, very close to the M6 for easy access. I will ask brother Darren, Funky for some advice.

Not sure about the Midlands.. There was the edale G.N.B.C back in the day.
@marksadventures38895 ай бұрын
@@vikingmitch4049 The Bushcraft Show is in Leicestershire- I think that's still regarded as the Midlands. I have since found 4 more showgrounds in my vicinity and so I'll be making enquiries after I've checked the requirements for the legals and the potential punters and guests. Like Funky I'm not looking to make it the big Bushcraft Show deal, but a bit more friendly and less corporate looking, with reasonable entry fees.

I think networking at events is the way to go. A by-area groups index would be good too... but who manages it, and who's clocking it. Op Sec.

I live in the North of England and been prepping for at least 10 years. During that time I have tried to link up with like minded people and found it very difficult. Been to funky's prepper meets twice, which was a 4-5 hour drive for me. Too far for networking as you need to organise locally. There are preppers up here, lots I think, esp lately, but finding them is not easy. You are right about the networking, we need to find each other now to form groups to build trust. It'll be too late after shtf and time is running out. Only just found your channel Mitch so will look back at your content.

We're painfully reserved and polite here in the UK compared to our cousins across the Atlantic Adding in work commitments makes finding like minded preppers even more difficult, on a positive note it seems to be improving and the idea is not as strange to the wider population as it has been since the end of the Cold War with the return of global security and political instability Take care mate Roo

I suspect (no evidence to back it up) that the networking aspect works in the US because there is a culture of gun shows, knife shows, and other events ... so its fertile ground, while here in the UK its starting as an off shoot from the bushcraft niche. There are a few uk prepper websites but no hub really, least none ive seen. Tom is a great choice to run it, as he has an events type business already. As well as being a known face and solid bloke. (and he seems likeable)

Hello Mitch, I cannot get to Funky's first meet this year or the BCS either due to family commitments. It was good to meet you last year and I agree with you totally on the Networking. Also, may I say. If I do get to see you again this year, I'm going to give you a haircut 😀 ATB good sir!

Nice informative vid Russ. Prepping networks really need a more intensive interaction and communication amongst the horizon of the skills. Training sets need to be developed so the communities can physically benefit from each others skill sets. 1st and foremost fitness should be a key point. Meeting or gatherings have to come together more not just turning up and sitting around. Hoping the twin meets work out. Good presentation boils down to the training and conditioning 💪 👍 👌

Nice one mitch yea there isn't much communication. I was thinking of making a discord where no personal info is submitted. If you want to do that send over links to social media and do it through a messaging app. With topics on fire water shelter etc. Events meet ups and general chat I have made one if anyone is interested

Team working buddy buddy system building should be a task on site at any meets. Yes maybe it's all hypothetical but let's be real so is the prepping world as a collective. So community networking should be key to gaining the advantage if situations where to go tits up. Rec and spotter ( tracking) Medic Mechanic ( vehicle or other) Gatherers ( Intel or other) Security detail ( on and off site) The UK as a whole is by far too small to go hide and wait it out. But there are options if you choose to explore. There is a huge opportunity to have these meets and use the experience gained to inform and educate people properly. I do hope the meets down there go well but the " community " need to voice their views openly and respectfully. I do know that you and I have spoken abouts before mate.

Good info to start Russ on the meets, in terms of community completely agree , in my neck of the woods like minded folk are few and far between … or are they?? I guess it’s a British thing stand in line , conform and wait… then when the pin drops … we should at least train as a group, in line with an army reserve mindset - weekend a month … at least then there will be a connection within the group, and an understanding of ability/knowledge/group SOPs when it counts … this video definitely has me thinking 🤔👍🏻👌🏻🤘🏻

Hello mate you bang on the money on this British people do tend to sit back and do nothing unlike or poor American friends . But trying to to change mindset in uk is difficult because we have people on KZbin trying to put out that they are experts and they hold themselves above others . The likes of Tom and stu are top blokes and have tried to get the ball rolling as have a few others but people won’t get out and train physically and or skills wise but would rather sit at home on fb groups bragging about what new shiny stuff they have bought. I would gladly get out and train with anyone that is serious about it atb mate.
