Your pantry is great!! Mine is not as full, albeit sufficient for our needs plus a little extra. You made me realize that I need to up my game on protein, yet I also have a freezer full that I will be working on again, to cook and can. I do not have a freeze dryer, otherwise that would be running full-time as you are doing. Great job!!

Thank You. "Rice is going to be a pretty big problem, next year". Finding rice at the grocery stores in my area is a problem right now. Watch the milk alternative as it is chemicals which are bad for you. I do not have a freeze dryer as I have been prepping for the last 4 years on my small budget. For Augason Farms on Amazon, I watch the prices and purchase when it drops below a certain price. The potato slice buckets go on sale about every 5 to 6 weeks. The Creamy Wheat #10 cans have been at an all time low right now. Creamy Wheat is a hot cereal that is normally more expensive than oatmeal but right now it is cheaper than oatmeal. I have been purchasing bulk cases of LaModerna pasta and cheap cases of 24 count tomato sauce. Some brands are going at between $10 to $12 a case. Inflation has not reached those items yet so I can get more for my money. Good Luck.
@PHExpatPrepper

For sure, even here where we Iive, full of rice fields, it will be a problem with price, as they can send it to the big towns and make more. The world is going to have issues next year with rice, and most grains. It might take 3-4 years if the weather is nice to recover. I will be stacking away as much as I can very soon. Thanks..

My husband and i worked for the same government contracting company and we got laid off in September of 2020. I have a suggestion for you. Well two suggestions. 1. Grab some Irish Spring bars of soap. Take one bar shred it using a cheese grater and then sprinkle the shredded soap along the walls and underneath your storage shelves. Your pantry will smell nice and apparently the smell will repel bugs and rodents. Gardeners use it to repel bugs, rabbits and other threats to vegetable gardens. Lots of content creators swear that this method works. 2. I suggest when you purchase any of those 25/30yr shelf life foods that you taste it before you buy it in bulk. For example ReadyWise in my opinion that brand isn’t very good and you’re paying a premium for noodles and flavoring. You may be better off buying a case of ramen noodles.
@PHExpatPrepper
@PHExpatPrepper Жыл бұрын
Thanks.. will try that soap method. The readywise was on sale like 50%.. so picked it up, but I agree. I will be making my own. Some things like onions, milk, and the powders are easier to buy when on sale then to make.

I am in Indiana, the DNR upped the limits on deer. There is a 10 limit until January with only one buck allowed. The problem with that is that I live in an area of private property homesteads that do not allow hunting yet the hunters invade and it risks lives as they fire guns less than 5 feet from my house and others. It damages houses and the hunters do not care and refuse to pay for the damages to houses.

They have cheaper brands like Mother Earth Food Products or Hoosier Hills Farm or YuPik. You get the same amount by weight in most types of the cans but they are in plastic canisters which is cheaper. The dehydrated blueberries are 10 to 12 ounce in the #10 survival can and cost between $33 and $100 each. However YuPik has a pouch of dehydrated blueberries that are over 2 pounds which is over 32 ounces for under $25. It would take 3 of the $33 cans so $99 total to equal the amount of the YuPik $25 pouch of dehydrate blueberries. That is $99 from the name brand survival food companies versus $25 for a YuPik pouch of the same product. Is the can really worth $74. I think about these things. And you can find other long term shelf stable food products that the survival food companies do not carry. I have a canister of dehydrated chives as well as a canister of dehydrated cabbage amongst other foods. I have the potato cubes that are difficult to find. And I have sour cream powder. Lipton has a Cream of Chicken powder that can be reconstituted to make Cream of Chicken Soup for recipes and it takes up less space on the shelf. It actually has more flavor than the generic cans of Cream of Chicken Soup. There are other survival food options besides the big survival companies out there so you do not have to pay their high prices. I found the I cannot eat the survival food bars. I also learned that I cannot wax cheese. I found that field mice love to chew through mylar bags so packages need to be doubled by putting food in mylar packages into a thick plastic bin or food safe bucket to keep the rodents out. The cardboard boxes of pasta get exposed to moisture and bugs before you even purchase it from the store so the plastic packages are better for keeping the moisture and bugs out.

Most preppers choose to put their pantries near their kitchen or even in basements to minimize light and high temperature My second question is where do you get some of your canned food like the Augoson Farm? Do you order through Amazon or do you ask friends or family to buy there and send it to you? Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and answer my questions Looking forward to hearing from you

Hi.. thanks. 2nd floor is where I had room, and the rest of that space will be aircon'd most of the time. There IS a commercial kitchen on that floor right down the hall. This space will eventually be a nice coffee shop. No light once the door is closed. Augoson farms .. amazon.com. Look for big sales, and FREE delivery to the Philippines.. when the two line up a GREAT time to buy. When I go to the store once a month everyone laughs at me just wondering about prepping here in the country I'm worried my husband says no one can afford to buy normal amounts of food that everyone buys really cheap food the checkers tell us people don't buy alot of normal food any more just very cheap unhealthy foods no one can afford 8.00 for mayo do ya blame them we've even had people check out our home looking for cough suffering and you just about have to hide anything if ya were prepping no one will get away with it in a small town so ya think of everyone cause we are all cut off 4 hours from any where no ones going anywhere so ya its hopless to do when ya know deep down you'll share all ya got for kids or someone suffering no one tells ya how your going to turn anyone away ya can't so prepping is a whole town has to do together or not at all no one can afford to strave kids so if ya prepping now prepper for strangers kids like diapers milk food for toddlers kids candy cookies snacks cause if ya dint you'll go with out to feed them dint tell me you wouldn't
