We really enjoyed this and got a bit out of it. Interesting mention about the Dutch situation towards the end of WW2 as my mother was a child growing up during the war and her older siblings were in the underground. People who lived on farms were generally able to do ok food wise. It was the city people who starved. Living on a farm seems to have many advantages IMO. I am a big fan of PTO generators that can be run off a small tractor as there is a lot of flexibility. We use ours all the time for mobile welding etc. However, they are a bit more pricey. We live on a farm so always have a stockpile of diesel on hand and the tractors are always working so you know they will start! Also, you can help your neighbours in a crisis with it if needed. Thanks for the great show and we look forward to it every week!! You are live at 4am our time down under here in Australia so we skip the live part!!

Water storage. Location depending... But if you have limited space to store water, research how to catch water. I don't recall that being talked about this video (I might have missed it) but maintain supplies for catching water to help out. Once SHTF your life just turned up side down, you'll quickly find all kinds of space to store water...cleared wide walking space in the home no longer a consideration.

Family first, always. Also, I don’t have much to contribute but… in your emergency medical stuff… Tagamet & Pepcid are both histamine block with the side effect of an acid reducer if that makes sense. Along with Benadryl, having those on hand for allergic reactions is smart. I’m allergic to spiders for instance. It doesn’t matter if the toxicity is very low for a normal person. A spider bite will have me in head to toe migrating hives for at least a week. One of the places I went to I was trying to get a shot of ketamine? But there is a shortage on that and the dr recommended taking one of the above with Benadryl until symptoms resolve. I was already doing that but it was nice to get official verification for something I figured out a long while back.

Hey also, for the people who ask about how to defend themselves but not being able to own or use firearms. Idk your reason for being unable to own a firearm but if you are in the states, even a felon can still own a black powder firearm as long as its not able to be converted to take cartridge ammunition. Black powder guns are considered antique and dont require a back ground check and can even be ordered directly to your home. Idk what each and every one of your situations are, and baring local restrictions, get a 6 shot black powder 36 cal or 38 cal or 44 cal black powder revolver which you can find in expensively, and learn how to operate and load them safely and proficently, its definately better then a stick and can still give you 6 rounds of stand off protection that is still as lethal today as they were when they were widely used. Maybe also a a black powder side by side shotgun or even single shot or even a newer muzzle loading rifle. Its not the best but its still an available option that puts distance between you and an attacker.

I'm new to all this and have no idea what EDC, hope I got it right, or sfht, I can't remember the order. Anyway, I'm a recent widow. When covid first hit, I was in hospital. I'd been sick a while before finally going to the ER, so I hadn't grocery shopped in a few weeks. After I got out, there was zero toilet paper to be found. I was going to dairy queen (yep I'm in Texas) and ordering a soda and a ton of napkins! So, made it through that. I recently started finding these types of channels on here. I had no idea what prep even was. As far as I knew, prep meant chopping the onions before starting dinner, haha. Been listening to your channel a week or so now, catching up on older videos, and this one makes the most sense, doesn't stir up fear, etc. Love this channel. Please keep it up! I have people whose eyes are opening right now, but I don’t want to scare them off. I will continue to watch, and like I said- I personally don’t have a problem with it at all. TY! Do you have a video recommending an electric space heater? Given the talk of propane shortages, looking to expand my options. Have looked but don't see a video... TY for you labor to keep us on our toes!!
@nmr69883 жыл бұрын
I have a Holmes ceramic cube heater that is literally 20 years old, and it still works perfectly. In the garage I have one of the larger Sunbeam electric heaters and it does a great job. Just make sure you use a really heavy duty cord that will go from the wall socket to the heater, because those draw a lot of energy and you need the extra safety of a big fat yellow heavy duty extension cord or one of the orange ones. I wouldn't try less than that. We are on year number five of the Honeywell electric heater that heats up the family room. It is round and although more heat comes out the front, it does put out heat in every direction, which is really perfect in my opinion. We have a gas fireplace, but even the flow of gas through the lines depends on electricity, so I'm thinking of getting one of the Mr Buddy single heaters that literally will fit on top of one of the small units of propane. and I think I'm remembering that one bottle will power the heater for 24 hours if you don't leave it running on high the entire time. Good luck!

When you talk about medical, a good area to maybe mention or even think of if you havent before, but where to get anti venoms and things of that nature to deal venomous snake or spider bites or stings or other insects or even poisonous plants. Also in the previous video, robbie wheaton mentioned burn cream a good thing to keep on hand, id also add maybe sun burn cream and sun block. If your going to be out working alot, a sun burn can be a bad thing to get. Also you mention how you can smell food when its starting to go bad and then throw it away, but would it be a good idea to use the food is going bad or has maybe gone bad as an impromptu bait for hunting/trapping? Why throw it away if its possible to get a secondary use out of it and in a way that maybe replace it with more food?

I live in a urban area in CT and have a gas generator. Would you still recommend a solar generator, despite whatever power source I use it will be noticed?
@judiehavard49032 жыл бұрын
You can get a solar generator with panels to charge it. Or it can be charged off your gas generator. Just make sure it is one that allows pass through charging. So it can be charged and used at the same time. A couple of these companies are making some larger solar generators with stacking batteries. So you might could purchase the head and one battery in the beginning and then go back and purchase 2 or 3 more batteries to go with it.. And cycle the batteries around. A smaller version is either the Ecoflow Delta or River Max. I can't remember which. But do not drain it on the last like 20 percent..Doing so could cause damage... Read all the reviews on it. Some newer units are made to bundle and you can connect 2 whole units to ru togetherWe have a large generator for running our house. We also keep a smaller one. A 2000 watt with a sine inverter. I can use that any where. I can pick it up load it in my SUV and go with it. PORTABILITY. Is key. I can use it to help a familyq member or neighbor. Or take it to our BOL. It can serve for use at the barn if we need it. Can use it to charge battery operated tools. The options that it affords. We can use it in a camp situation where ever. It's portable. Some newer units have stacking batteries to offer a larger load. But to reduce weight. ECO FLOW has one. I think Bluetti does as well. But is pretty pricey. But it all comes down to how big a unit (watts) do you need. The Bluetti does Not have pass through charging. Maybe you can split up so the initial cost won't be as high.n,

There are degrees of prepping. You can be a prepper if you are prepared to your own situation. Having a plan for emergencies is within everyone's reach. How you work that plan is up to you.
@ericawatters53863 жыл бұрын
You can prep some if you’re working poor. I know because we do. It’s taken some time to get to the 1 month of everything I can think of, but it is doable. And I have an illness that when it flares I can do absolutely nothing except breathe through it, and several prescriptions, routine otc medicine, and numerous eating restrictions. It just takes longer the more issues you have to deal with. It’s just slow going. Debt from medical issues keeps us from doing more, faster too. Do what you can when you can so that when you can’t you don’t have to.

@Nancy3853, I disagree. buying decent property or any property at all is beyond most people's budgets. If you live in an apartment, an efficiency, a small house, a barndominium or a motorhome and you have food and water, that makes you a super prepper in my opinion.
