A radiation dosimeter is a device that measures exposure to ionizing radiation. It has two main uses: for human radiation protection and for measurement of dose in both medical and industrial processes

Very cool, lots of preppers dont realize that these are handy not only for a huge nuclear war, but something as simple as a truck loaded with radioactive waste (Which we seem to have a lot of in Nevada lol) crashing and rolling over. I am not so sure I would trust old stuff, I have some older civil defense meters and dosimeters that have been calibrated correctly and checked with a check source, so they are good to go, but you can buy brand new 100% accurate digital dosimeters on ebay now for around 120 bucks, so there are tons of options out there. I keep a few of those at the ready just in case. Good video!

apart from a few very specific situations, (living near a nuclear power plant) i cant see much use for having one. also IF you needing one, then a modern one is the way to go, many of these decades old soviet era ones are faulty/inaccurate.

very interesting video, but please take the time to correctly film them in the correct orientation. Portrait videos looks awful and amateurish.

How do hey work? Don't they have to be cleared or reset?

Its pronounced Dough-Sim-it-Er..... lol. For $5, thats a good early warning find. Would be good to know what its "shelf life" is, how to calibrate (who knows if it works up to spec) or check for accuracy, does it take batteries, etc. Again, good find and good "short n sweet to the point" video review.

Sorry, this is wrong in so many ways. This dosimeter alone wont protect or warn you. It requires a second, much larger unit to be charged first and read out later. After the charging its only good for a few days to month, it continuously discharges itself. Those were designed to monitor the radiation dose when a soldier returns from from a command. Only then its read out and the dosimetrist decides if this soldier can be: 1. sent to contaminated area again 2. Needs to be used in clean zones from now on 3. Goes to the lazaret 4. Received a fatal dose and is not worth to spent any more medical resources on This thing is not of any use for preppers! Buy a pen dosimeter + charger for 25$ instead guys.
