My dad used to tend 3 to 4 large gardens and he loved every minute of it. He shared his bounty with everyone in the area. I sure miss his homegrown vegetables and tomatoes. He is probably tending gardens in Heaven now. I sure miss him and my mom. You sure are a good steward of what you’ve been blessed with….❤️ -Brenda

Suggestion: put unshucked ear of corn in microwave, 4 minutes & when it cools enough to handle shuck it. Silks & shucks come off like a dream & corn is delicious.

If it's home grown you should eat the peel, it has the most nutrients. If it's industrial, maybe not. It can contain chemical residue.

How long can you keep bacon grease in the refrigerator? We don't eat a lot of fried foods, so I'm afraid we wouldn't use it up very quickly

Thank you for the beef cooking tips - I never knew that about the tomato paste or that crowding the beef makes it sweat! I read somewhere that beef is easier to slice if you don't thaw it the whole way, and it does seem to be easier. I could just about smell that cooking 😄

My mom and i do the same thing. If one of us cook we bring some to the other one. Also, we split veggies and fruits too. During covid and i was laid off for 5 weeks, my mom, my mom's best friend, and i all cooked every 3 days and shared. It was so nice. New dinner every night and only cook twice a week.

Thanks for sharing your recipes and tips for safety in the kitchen, Ms Rosa 🌹 It's a bit too hot for me to put my oven to work yet. After browning the meat, I would have preferred to throw the meat and the rest of the ingredients into my crockpot on high for about 3 hours. And then I'd go about my day. Some folks own a second smaller crockpot for the green beans and sides. Stay cool, enjoy the rest of your week.

Hi Granny, Hope 😊 you are doing ok. Sorry to hear your leg still hurting you. That new kitchen stool you ordered will really help alot. Probably your high humidity where you live. My knees bothering me its the humidity here in California. Do you take meds for your legs? I take strong pain meds helps a bit. Your cooking videos are great! You are such a great cook. Nice to have meals ready for awhile, just warm and serve. Hot weather here this week coming 121-123 degrees yuk! 😮. Take care, hi to Gizmo puppy.😊❤

Hi there Granny I admire you're ambition cooking in this hot weather. You will have some good tasting meals this week coming up. It's nice you have your family in mind when you are fixing these dinners. Most of the time it's just my hubby and me and we have small appetites especially in the heat so we just have simple dinners of a light variety. I hope your legs feel better soon my hubby has severe osteoarthritis in his hip and may be in need of surgery. The fact that he is a type one insulin dependent diabetic makes surgery risky so he is bearing with the stiffness and pain. Old age is no fun. Love watching your videos and always am interested in your thrift shop finds and the books you love to read. Stay cool as you can and hope little Gizmo is doing well too. I bet he's good company for you.

I've had leg pain off and on for months now. I did some "research" online and I'm left wondering if I may have Sarcopenia, which is common in people my age, (73). Seems that protein is helpful and I'm trying to get about 30 grams of protein per meal. Also, making sure I get my vitamin D and C. Had to give that up for a bit due to meds I was taking. Lastly, I'm trying to walk, even a little, most days a week. I'm seeing some improvement. Not sure what exactly to attribute that to, but could be the above changes in my diet, etc. I have yet to mention this to my doctor but will in the near future. I will add, it seems my pain in legs, feet, etc. is a cyclical thing. I'm going to start logging everything to see what I can learn. Hope you feel better.

I don't like mushy beans either. After 1 1/2 hours, these still had some bite. These were not as tender as green beans I usually get.

Hello Granny! May I ask where did you find your red pot and can you use it in the oven also? I like yours , I've been looking for a good brand. Call me silly! I made cornbread one day and used a Pioneer Woman skillet to bake it in, that skillet popped, cracked and almost ruined my oven!!!! Thank goodness that was the only piece of merchandise I have of hers. That's why I'm asking, thank you! Poor Gizmo😢.
