You can carry a bic lighter wrapped with duct tape. I’ve done it many times through multiple airports. I think the TSA is going to put the smack down on the hat & belt due to seeing the items on x-ray. This will be interesting for sure! Pre-COVID I flew all over the country once a month, every month. I’ve seen the TSA question items that are clearly noted on their website as being ok to fly with. It all depends on who you get & if their having a bad day or not.

I would see if it's possible to add a small magnifying lens into your cap. Also, a couple alcohol prep pads, good for fire extending and to clean up any minor boo boo.
@user-bh3ew6ii4g

Great suggestions! It would be very easy to add one of those credit card sized fresnel lenses to the hat and that would be a great suggestion to Wazoo to carry. Wazoo sells patches that are themselves caches were out of stock last time I bought Wazoo gear so I can't test this but the fresnel lens might fit in the patch cache. For sure you could fit one in the hat. Alcohol prep pads would be easy to add to the hat too.

I think in the video he said he wanted to use nothing more than what wazoo offered on their web site, but if I'm mistaken then those are great suggestions
@user-bh3ew6ii4g
@user-bh3ew6ii4g 3 жыл бұрын
@@savageg4594 yes I think that was the idea to just use Wazoo products. But still I love all the suggestions, because in the real world outside of an intentional challenge there are some great suggestions here that would be very useful. in fact, I need to find my fresnel lenses and add them to my caps! It's great to have a discussion like this because every else's ideas can trigger me to think of more things, in addition to their great ideas. :)

Replace the whetstone with a plastic bottle cutter cordage maker and also add some fishing lures to the exterior of your hat as functional decoration.

An empty back pack could be useful? Even one of those small ones that fold up into itself. Doesn't offer any survival capacity but for ease of experience for the things you might collect or gather?

When you get off the plane, head to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a $4-$5 bow saw blade and place it in your wazoo belt. A 24 inch blade fits perfectly in my wazoo belt with everything else. Watch the CO weather. You may see snow at certain altitudes. Best of luck!!

Great idea! I have been thinking about putting a bow saw blade in my belt, I wasn't sure if would bend enough then go back to straight. I figured it would be out of the question because of the airport, but your suggestion is a great way to get around that.
@MegaHalftrack
@MegaHalftrack 3 жыл бұрын
Once you make your bushcraft bow saw, any bend in the bow saw blade from being in the wazoo belt is “pulled out” when you tension the bushcraft bow saw. I’ve also “flipped” my wazoo belt with bow saw blade so the inside if the belt is facing out for a few hours before using it and that too gets any “bends” out if the blade. Either way, it’s super easy to deal with. Good luck.
@treerat6959
@treerat6959 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but won't the saw teeth cut into the belt possibly causing to lose gear ?
@MegaHalftrack
@MegaHalftrack 3 жыл бұрын
If you buy the saw blade at Lowes, it comes with a plastic “shipping” sheath that bends with the saw blade when you place it in the wazoo belt. I add a little duck tape or gorilla tape to hold the plastic sheath in place. I’ve also ran a length of gorilla tape, doubled over it self along the blade too. Both work perfectly and I’ve never had a belt become worn or torn from the blade. Tape acts a fire starter as well.

I commented yesterday on your survival dispatch version of this video, I would not leave the whetstone necklace behind. It gives you the capability to improvise a larger blade if you find the right piece of metal, plus it would be a backup to your backup for fire always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it and maybe a few zip ties, and duct tape, instant coffee, maybe the cache beanie instead of the ball cap for the November cold in Colorado. .

This is AWSOME!! I don’t know about airport security but what do you think about a buck saw blade, extra tinfoil for a cup of hot tea, straws of peanut butter to bait traps, and of corse, duct tape. Maybe a couple of coffee singles for moral of there is room. They may not all be in the wazoo store, but it would showcase the belt to the fullest extent with common items. I’m excited. Good luck

I wouldn’t waste time with a fishing kit if you are bye a river just hand fish the time it would take you to get bait and a line out it’s just faster to get in the river with your hands and grab them under the gills. I will have to make a video on hand fishing in emergency thanks for the idea.

Defiantly your clothing will be your first line of protection so be sure it's wool and waterproof also a beany and gloves get leather gloves with wool liners you will be breaking up branches the gloves will protect your hands. If I was to buy anything they would be a metal canteen drinking vassal, pocket knife or better yet a machete with 6" file .

I know you want to use wazoo exclusive stuff...but I would highly suggest a grim workshop card with a knife punch out. I think wazoo has great stuff but I also think they have room to expand and something like that would demonstrate the gaps that they have in product. Honestly I think a larger ceramic arrowhead would be great something along the design lines of the esee ah1. Honestly I think part of the point of this experiment is to see what they can improve on so limiting yourself to what they sell may defeat the point

Clothing; long sleeve t-shirt(could always cut sleeves shorter), larger flannel shirt(large ↠ xlarge), 3/4 length parka type shell, large bandanas, buff, thin gloves, fresnel lens in wallet, a travel toothbrush and dental floss, and a hinged knee brace (concealed saw and blade), swap out folded wire saw with one unfolded saw sealed in paper and tape sachet, add plastic gorge style hooks to fishing kit, could go on but you get the idea. Great plan take and use minimalist kit, not a fan of the macho posturing BS you do you best of luck.

If you're going to carry the wallet with ID and a fishing license why not include a survival card or two, as well? Would tucking a disposable poncho or space blanket into a back pocket, like a handkerchief, be breaking you rules? I carry a poncho in my back pocket all the time for the obvious reason of staying dry, but also, is cushions my smart phone when I sit on it and, I feel, helps prevent it from breaking. And lastly, when I use the flashlight in my belt, I usually just bite it and point with my head. Looking forward to your adventure series.
