Prepping for My First Pokémon Regional at a Mock Tournament

The Pokémon Portland 2024 Regional Tournament is around the corner. How far can i get playing a Roaring Miraidon deck? I particpated in a mock regional tournament at my local card shop, TableTop Village to prepare myself. Well, i didn't get mollywopped. I learned a lot, fought a lot, and was extremely tired by the end of it all.

That first loss sounded brutal! Sounds like you’re getting pretty close to getting then kinks worked out though. Also, love the neon light you got (and the playmat was awesome too).

The first match definitely set the tone hahaha. I am so close to getting my deck where I want it!!! I also think the light and playmat are pretty snazzy

A vlog series of someone getting into the game I'm also starting? Yes please! I recently started with a Tsareena ex deck I've been messing around with on TCG Live and I've had some decent success. I like your rogue/anti-meta take on Miraidon, though I'd like to echo the tech choice another commenter made with Toxtricity ex. The basic Toxel can also evolve into a non-ex Toxtricity which the options aren't great, but they can potentially soften up things for Iron Hands later. Toxtricity ex also hits hard, but you're almost guaranteed to need Flaffy in your build to recover recources. I'll be interested to see where you take the deck. Best of luck at the regionals!

Thank you for watching!!! I love what Tsareena ex can do in general. So scary. I do like the concept of also have one card prize Pokémon like Toxtricity on my bench. It at least draws the game out haha. I hope to have a regionals video up soon too! Thanks for the luck!

@@KebinTCG I'm looking forward to the results! Also after thinking about the Toxtricity idea, there's a single prize one that does extra damage for the amount of different types on your bench and I think it synergizes well with the concept you're going for. Roaring Moon is fantastic, but I can see how it might be awkward to set up and be a liability if you get Boss's Ordered, so maybe teching in a Radiant Greninja to help with consistency and switching to a small bit of water energy to force opponent's to respect the Moonlight Shuriken? Sorry if it seems like I'm suggesting an overhaul, but your idea of a Miraidon toolbox-y deck that plays mindgames really got me thinking.

Keep em coming! I love thinking outside of the box. That’s also another great idea. I’ll see if I have that frog hiding in my collection. I literally just practiced against a roaring moon deck 30 minutes ago. I swapped in a Zekrom - which can attack for one energy and remove any attached tool before the attack. This is handy for any ancient capsules. It knocked out a roaring moon that just did frenzied gouging. This is kind of a sneaky tech too for a one prize.

if you need more enerfy acceleration I would recomend running dark patch, at least for roaring moon

I played against a Roaring Moon deck last night and saw my opponent use the dark patch. It definitely got my brain THINKING haha

@@KebinTCG yea it def helps with the accel! Also its really cool to see a sorta anti meta take on miraidon! Im guilty of being a dirty meta user when it comes to miraidon but ive been tryna tech in tera toxtricity ex for mirror matches! Although i usually play wigglytuff ex

Thanks! Yeah, tinkering around with Miraidon has been a fun, anti-meta “meta” deck haha. The toxtricity is a genius idea too for mirror matches.

I had tapu initially. I liked the concept of tapu, but people kept using switch/beach court/escape rope perfectly against me. I look forward to your locals testing!
