Another great video! This is probably the fourth or fifth time I’ve watched it and I’m jonesing for some flathead fishing lol! A video idea that I would really enjoy and I think other people would too would be an in depth garage tour of like how you store and organize all your rods and tackle it looks like you have a pretty neat setup!

Caught my first mooneye last night here at Cooper Falls, northern NY. Feisty little buggers, I can tell. But they're supposedly endangered up here so I let tossed him back in the river.

They are definitely feisty and fun to catch.

How do you usually cut your mooneye for channels? Fillet or chunks? Any hook size advice for purely channel cats on the river with mooneye?
@slungercatoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
For channel catfish I normally use a 5/0 Daiichi D85 and the mooneye I just cut into small chunks. It’s a deadly bait!!!

I was there yesterday chasing moon eye and skipjack. Both were real slow to bite. Wish they had a escalator on that hill. Hauling my stuff back up it is hard on a old man.

Haha that hill is a killer!! It’s never fun in 100 degree days!! Thanks for watching

You got into them at Greenup I gave up on that dam after a couple months of trying to catch bait idk maybe I was doing it wrong lol
@slungercatoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
It can definitely be a good place at times but just like RC Byrd it’s day to day. Thanks for watching
@stonefly71584 жыл бұрын
Greenup can be tricky to get bait best get there early. Like Chris said and you will be elbow to elbow by 7 am. You can fish for them at RCB with water is calm over night is best time there to fish for them or right before day break. Off the parking platform.

Is Greenup better than Byrd for Mooneye? I was catching them at Byrd when the water was a bit high, but they seem to have vanished since its been down
@slungercatoutdoors2 ай бұрын
It honestly depends the day. They both are good early season
@andydavishoosierlegendsken54544 жыл бұрын
Is cut bait better in summer or live bait ive never caught moon eye where I'm at only have one dam here by me and its 45 min drive to get there
@slungercatoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Honestly a lot of it depends on the body of water and rather you are fishing for flatheads, blues or channels. If you after flatheads this time of yeah live bait can be key in lakes and bodies of water with no current. Now if you have current fresh cut bait will also work. Now blues and channels are more of a cut bait. But they like it move. Dragging or drifting

@@slungercatoutdoors awsome thanks we went out on small river yesterday afternoon for about a 5 mi kayak trip and I caught a 2 lb flat head in a log. Jam haha didnt even know he was on there hitting the right species just gotta get them bigger so watching these channels have really helped

When fishing for flatheads in a reservoir how much time do you give each spot knowing that they travel and feed
@slungercatoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately in reservoirs you may have to stay put all night and wait them out.

Does anyone doing in good on mooneye in lakes in Ohio I live on Rocky fork and paint Creek lake was wondering if there any good bait other than using them at river
@slungercatoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Normally when I’m there I use shad, carp, blue gill and other bait that might be in that lake.
