I retired last year and moved out of an apartment I had lived for 27 years. It took me weeks of nightly carload (to avoid heat and traffic) to empty out the place. I was too exhausted to reminisce these 27 years being from a marriageable woman to an old lady. Looking back I was amazed how much gumption I got to tackle buying a place, remodeling, moving, and retiring all in one year by myself.

Anna can't wait to see what you do next. You have a unique and pleasant way of bringing us along in your world. I will miss seeing you in your van, I love the red colored of your van in a world mostly covered in white vans it stood out.

I can sort of feel your pain -- I'm retired, and also have to downsize. Worse, I inherited my parents' house; my mother couldn't bear to dispose of _all_ my father's things after he died; I couldn't bear to dispose of all _her_ things after _she_ died -- so there's a *lot* of downsizing to get through. Plus a few thousand (not an exaggeration) of my books sitting boxed up in storage. So I understand fully how hard it is to downsize, and how much work it is, and how overwhelming it can be. But: if anyone is going to land on her feet after jumping off that cliff, Anna, it is you. After following your journey for over a year now, I have every faith in you. Just please don't leave us in suspense too long or too often -- let us know how things are going when you have the time and energy to do so. :)

However, I know we would be excellent friends with our similar wonderlust adventures, creative interests, and freedom loving spiritual quests. Please Continue to March in your journey and excellent work with your channel. Needed to hear that pep talk, Anna. I've decided not to renew my lease in Feb. and am going to fly or fall. I realized this weekend that I need to make the leap to nomad living soon for my mental and spiritual health. It's not going to be an easy transition but it's time. Thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring others to take the leap, too.

At 29, I finally found a job that let me see the world, and do things, meet people, and go places that I would never have imagined possible (as someone with agoraphobia.) Now as a senior citizen - I am so happy that I have so many amazing memories and made so many friends - even given that many days were hard it was all worth it.

I have been in your shoes. I unexpectedly talked to a realtor who came into my job for a swim on a Wednesday afternoon and 24 hours later there was a for sale sign in my front yard. I had been considering selling my house but it was just a thought. So, at that point is where I jumped, because there was no turning back. It was 3 years ago Sep. 17th when I jumped and Jan. 7th 2023 will be 3 years where I landed successfully in my new home. Everything you are feeling is natural for the current situation. But, seeing you and following you…you are going to land successfully. And I am excited to see the new home (van) once you move in. Congrats…onward and upward if this wasn’t meant to be happening…it wouldn’t be happening.

Not going to lie, I freaked out on the title thinking you were done with van life. Very excited to see the next one. I have always loved your music playlist. I see you use Spotify, are you willing to share so I listen to your list?? Please! ;) I know the moving thing. I'm in the process of moving from SC back to Ohio after 29 yrs. This is the first move where it's all me to rid out, sell stuff, pack up, and get on to the next place. I'll be near my brother so that'll be nice. Maybe now I can talk him into helping me build a van out. He's an amazing woodcraftsman.

I just stumbled upon your channel today. I'm currently doing a van build myself. I really appreciate the outpouring and honesty of emotions in your video. You're as real as they come; I was moved by your story and determination. Better to end life with great memories and no regrets. And I'll share a little story with you. Almost 8 years ago, I got on an airplane and flew from Alaska where I live now all the way over to Thailand to meet a woman I met over the Internet. I have always really been taken by the Asia Culture and the Buddhist Faith in Thailand and always wanted to go. Scared the living crap out of me traveling that far, not speaking the language, etc. etc. That was about as far out of my comfort zone as I've ever gone. It was so totally worth it. I've loved it, and now fly every year. I'm married now, and going to bring my wife from Thailand over to the United States. We are planning to travel Throughout the U.S. in the van. She's never seen any of it. I'm very excited, and work a little each week on my van build. Dreams do come true if you work at it. All the best!

You think you have a lot of stuff now because it is packed in a 4x4 closet but when you get your new rig it will all fit nicely. As travelers we blow in the wind and follow our dreams. Do what feels right but learn from your mistakes and never stop dreaming. Always take the leap!

Anna, hope you find your next home vehicle. I've owned used car businesses and have found some amazing deals at government auctions. Car dealer auctions are not so good, but for those with that business, they can return a lemon and they will just sell it again. That option isn't available at any other auction. My current daily ride is a 1997 Lincoln Town Car with 49 k miles and always garaged. Super mint. Even has the navy blue canvas top with navy blue paint. They just don't make those anymore. I found it on Facebook marketplace. $6,500 cash. Banks don't loan on old cars even if they are a museum thing. I have had many of the type of vans you are looking for and never paid more than $12,000 and some for far less. I had more trouble selling the 4WD vans in the past as few needed them. But things may have changed now with the van life people.

Wow that one shot in the van got to me and made me cry. Both my grandfathers passed away decades before I was born so I never knew them, but I would kill to have something of my dad’s. He passed away from lung cancer even though I got him to quit smoking decades ago. Though I might not have anything tangible from him, all I need to do is look in the mirror and see the mismatched eyes he passed down to me. When we stood side by side, no one could doubt I was his daughter. His generous heart is also something he left behind and I’ll continue to pass it on in his name.

If you think in 3 years you’ve accumulated a lot of stuff living in your van. Try moving out of a house you lived in for 34 years. Eighty percent of the things I’ve horded (lol) and collected i havent used in years and my wife says please try to get rid of it. I can relate with you the emotional aspect you experienced while trying to decide what to throw out or donate or give away also. But i did feel liberated when i downsized to only what i knew i would need in our next place of living. Good luck finding your new home weather on wheels or stationary and try to fill it with only the things you will use everyday. Thats what I’m trying to do. Whats funny though is the 20% of the things i had left over from moving that I thought I needed to take with me i now realize that 15% of that stuff I’ll never use again. I think it’s human nature to want more than we actually need but I’m trying hard not to let that happen again and maybe my story will help you decide what things are important to keep or to part with. I will tell you that less has been so much better mentally then when i had all that stuff. Good luck on your next chapter and remember less is definitely better.

Your message about uncertainty really hit me today. Its been something I’ve been wrestling with for a long time, ever since I took a similar metaphorical jump and moved countries (again), not knowing whether it can be my new home. I hope you find an amazing 4x4 that takes you on even more amazing adventures, I’m so excited for you and hope you make new connections on this journey!

You got this Anna, I look forward to the next chapter. As I get older I do less jumping off of cliffs. But I still step off the side walk lol. Cheers.
