Prepping To Race Tomley RC, Kevin Talbot & Popalong RC. Unboxing 2 New Race Buggies! TLR 22 & 22 2.0

UK RC KZbinr's first RC race meeting! Before we all go head to head, we need to put in some preparation. With most running the latest and greatest racing RC kit, I need something to keep up. That said, I love my vintage buggies so I have gone for something 12 years old and halfway to becoming a vintage RC. I will be unboxing a 22 TLR and a 22 2.0 in this video and fitting some electronics and working on a basic setup. With little to no track racing experience and a totally new racing buggy, it's going to be one hell of a challenge to rank at all, but one thing is for sure, it's going to be a blast!

Rear motor and those tyres are for clay tracks. You might want to setup on up as mid motor and correct tyres for carpet.

Hi Gav all the best and good luck racing the TLR , just go out and have some fun that’s the main thing, don’t need to put unnecessary pressure on yourself . It’s toy cars at the end if the day and you’ll drive better if your relaxed. Enjoy and look forward to the video

I just have to say( please don't see this as a negative comment) I have several modern carpet buggies, I have an original rear motor 22 and a mid motor 22, which I tried to run on carpet. My more modern Associated, Schumacher and Yokomo buggies run circles around the older TLRs. The latest TLR with mods is awesome on carpet mind you. You will still have a blast with this race but you might be outgunned a bit. In saying that I cant wait to see it all unfold. Good luck.

My racing skills are zero so the car really wasn’t the issue lol. I know, these are old girls now and will be going into the collection. I’ll need something a more 2022-23 if I’m going to go every two weeks.

Cool, I think that I already saw u at the track already. Maybe I'm going backwards in time......I bet you end up not running the tlr and you decide to run the shumacher.....Well,good luck and remember you're not racing other cars,you are racing the track. Smooth is fast and if u can't get around the track without crashing, then you can't win....Have fun, don't get bit by the racing bug too bad....lol$$$$$$$$$,tires,tires, tires, tires........

Definitely need mid motor spec for carpet racing. Rear motor config will want to wheely in high traction conditions in less you keep the power down. You will want the Schumacher Cactus tyre in yellow compound for the rear and Schumacher cut staggers low profile for the front, you don_t need any tyre inserts in the fronts

With the race being on carpet I'd go with advise given and go mid mounted motor, whatever have a good day and enjoy yourself.

I like the Losi 22 buggy. I got mine as a ready to run and modified it. I got rid of the Specktrum radio and installed a Futaba radio. I did keep the original servo and the ESC and motor. I also got many metal parts for it too. I liked how it handled around the track. I have not run mine in years. Thoughts?

Gavin, ask the track what tires they run, if it is carpet indoor probably a Schumacher Mezo Yellow on the rear and a Cut Stagger Yellow on the front.

Given that Tomley has a 7.5t motor in his 2wd, and is bringing a 4wd as a ‘spare’ it looks like they’re not adhering to any fixed spec!

Focus on not crashing. The other YT'ers all put really hot motors in their car and in my experience, they'll end up crashing out driving too fast. Even the ol 22 2.0 can hold its own if you dont crash.
