They look awesome, I got away from logwood dye and wax a couple years ago, hit them with rust paint, let them sit a week and then dip them in full metal jacket, seems to be the ticket for me

I tried using that dip about 5 years ago and it ended up being a disaster!!!! I dipped 4 dozen traps, let them dry for over three weeks outside in the Texas sun. Waxed them and put them in totes about a week later. They were in the totes for about three weeks before I headed out to start my trap line. When I open the first tote I could smell gas. At first I thought the smell was coming from my four wheeler that I had just filled up. Unfortunately it wasn’t the four wheeler. I went ahead and knock in about 20 sets that day. I left the lids off of the totes in hope that the smell would go away. The next morning on my first check nine of the traps were dug up and 3 more had been scratched at. I ended up driving 212 miles back to the house the next day to get sone old traps that I hadn’t use the dip on. I left the totes in the shed with lids off and they still smelled like gas a month later.I ended up having to sandblast them and soak them in lacquer thinner the next summer to get rid of the smell. I started using Formula One trap dip and it is amazing!!! I hope you it works out for you.

They turned out great!!! Nice set up going on there!!

I used to use a big tote and dip a dozen at a time. Good stuff. Don’t dip your snares or restraints. It’ll clump up on the low hanging spots and you’ll have to scrape that clump off.
@RaymondWilliams9024 жыл бұрын
That's interesting wonder what else you could dip in that seems quick and easy 👍👍

Once I get more traps, that speed dip seems like a good option. Nice man cave you got going on there.

Hope it works for you,it’s like a ritual for me boiling and waxing traps I’ve still got some forty couple year old victors I’ve had and never noticed any difference in the way they fire.The only thing is it takes a big box of beer to getter done.lol
@lonniechartrand4 жыл бұрын
I just spray paint my traps (K-9s in bright red), let dry, and then dip in Zep High-Traffic Floor polish to protect them. Beats dying and waxing the old way. BTW, the bright red is so I can see if the trap was pulled out of its bed when running the line.

Didnt catch the part on how u rusted new traps up. I use muriatic acid and dip em them neutralize. I like using coleman fuel for speed dip. One quart SD to a gallon coleman fuel i did about 120 traps and still have a bunch left over for next year. Protects the traps in saltwater pretty good.
@shanek65823 жыл бұрын
Please tell me about trapping in salt water? What are you trapping? That seems like it would be tough on traps! Thanks man.

Ever used Formula 1? A friend of mine has a few dig ups every season and he believes it to be the speed dip. Never used Speed Dip before but have had food luck with Formula 1. Super fast. Traps are ready in a couple days after dipping. Tight chains!

@paparomesoutdoors7114 жыл бұрын
smart man not opening the Roof up, not fun when it starts to leak in time. DUDE these fires are something else happening its nuts. dude im blown away you have to mix that with gas though, i know you read the odor would evaporate but damn thats something different. I see more and more trappers including the old timer I learned from switching over being easier and quicker so I may have to give this a shot.

hey im just wondering. i used this on all my canine traps. cause of my job i only had 3weeks to trap. i dyed them using speed dip with high octane gas and after 7 days all my traps are tacky and smell of gas. is this a common thing with speed dip. iv always used powdered dyes or walnuts and with these iv never seen this problem. i want to salvage my season ;D
@TrapperJOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Gotta go this in the summer well before the season so they can air out
@brianmorrow63554 жыл бұрын
You'd have to really overdue the heat to draw the temper outta the springs I mean 500-600 degrees
