We are still together & I decided to marry him after 7 years together, refused before.... didn't want a man to think he owned me ! I refused to change my name & wanted to be thought of as an individual person, instead of a piece of property without feelings of my own, only an extension of him ! My husband did not deserve those fears... but they were there & he was understanding, caring, loving :) It can happen to you, but put down your foot if ANY abuse starts, don't allow it !!! In beginning my guy was very jealous.... I informed him that if he continued on this track that he would destroy our relationship & that he should choose to trust me & wait and see !!! I was a young boy when this song was released. Anytime I hear this or some of the other classic love ballads of that time, I vividly remember listening to it in the dark on the radio. My nana passed away just before my 14th birthday and I was on the road with my dad late at night the other night and we both couldn't see because of other headlights and this song started to play. This was her favorite song and I took that as a sign she was watching over us. While I ate my chili dog, I listened to etta James , had a second chili dog and listened to her again. When I would go, most of the time nobody was around.
