We'll be lucky if we still have a country to call our own. He said he was going to do for the American Economy what he did for his business and he did. Running up a bunch of debt and leaving the economy in shambles. He's going to flip us over, grab us by the legs, and shake out our pockets till they're empty. Then convince you he did you a favor.

if each president controlled the levers for interest rate there would be chaos. They'd try to use it to boost their numbers and create a mess there's a reason the treasury is separate..

If it was trump, he'd probably keep his foot on the interest rate to 0% and when he leaves office, let go and then say how great the economy was compared to his successor and how he should've stayed on for a 3rd term.

@@Mxyzptlk30 And that's why the treasury is separate. The rest of the government would turn it into a 3 ring circus. It's the same reason the treasury head can't be fired after being appointed it could influence decisions about economic policy.

He didn't sound to use any levers. Saying he knows sounds more like the timeline of expected 2% inflation. And timing of fiscal roll out.

@@ssuwandi3240 the point flew over your head. If he had the levers at his disposal he’d use them any president would. It gives the image of a good economy which is how people win reelection.

The treasury is not separate. It's a part of the executive branch of government. It's the Federal Reserve Board that is a separate government agency that is independent but still supposedly answer's to congress. But that's all about to change. As soon as Trumps OMB is confirmed and can start implementing Project 2025.

The Federal Reserve Act allows POTUS to fire the FOMC for cause. Things like the SF Governor allowing banks to fail b/c she was too lazy to do her job. Then Powell covering the whole thing up and never hold anyone responsible despite all those lost jobs and another huge taxpayer funded rescue. Or breaking laws, like JPMC and the other large banks recently accused the Fed of in a lawsuit.

The economy is ready to fall off a cliff and he knows it.Tariffs will also put interest rates up, so he wants to strong arm the Fed to try and combat the outcomes of his own policies and have them just print money and flood the market to try and negate those negative effects on the economy. I could see many potential reasons that would make Trump's administration unworkable. (1). Trump's own "I know more than they do" attitude (2). Too many egos in the room. It was all good to get the Adrenalin pumping during the election, but not so much after the party is over, and real work begins (3). Appointees over estimated their abilities (4). Some very gung-ho, even racist elements in Trump's camp. (5). Many lawsuits to counter Trump's over-the-top and illegal Executive Orders. And that is but a short list of what is waiting him within the US... Without the US, there wold be countries sharpening their pencil to stick it into Trump's eyes. He is offending so many countries, and so many of them are US allies !! ' Interestingly, some commentators said that his second term wold be a more mature, more sober one in comparison to his 1st, I am beginning to see the opposite...he is getting more radical, more chaotic, and more bullish. The clean sweep has gotten to his head. No amount of Baron Trump is going to help the old man !
