We're about halfway through Sonlight T right now...and I've had it for several years so I've read most of the books many times...still cannot read Nana Upstairs and Nana Downstairs without sobbing. I'm glad that you feel the same about how quick and easy it is to implement at this level.

We are from Australia and have loved using Sonlight. We use their curriculum for our oldest (17). We also plan to use Sonlight for our youngest two (5 and 2) but are still doing mostly play-based learning for now (with sprinkles of various curriculum resources when my five year old is in the mood). I hope you enjoy Sonlight. It has brought us a lot of joy.

Your videos are super timely for me! I am currently shopping for curriculum and am looking for new stuff to try for my youngest. She’s 3 but also very much a part of our read alouds, I was also thinking of getting her a few things as she keeps calling every book she picks up her “all about reading” lol Needless to say, I think a gentle introduction to playful fun work is in order for her. Thank you for sharing, please update us on how it goes.

Can you share what you have your kiddos do while you are doing your read alouds? Do you have any activities for your youngest? I have an almost 5 year old who sounds just like your youngest. She wants to be included in school work and often times she will bring me her school books rightt away in the morning after breakfast.

I tend to do our read alouds over meal times (mostly breakfast). Otherwise I just set them up with playdough or coloring in.

Nothing wrong with play based learning at this age!!! I started homeschooling with my youngest when she was ready!!! We had tons of books from the get go tho!!! I’m still doing play based learning with my kindergartener as she’s young!!! We love hands on learning at this age!!! Sonlight pre school looks awesome!!! My youngest loved the TGTB preschool course!!! My youngest listens in to family subjects now, it took her time to want to be in the same room but I knew the playroom was safe and she was safe playing!!!

Very eager to see how it goes for Sonlight preschool with your family. My 4/5 yr old and 2/3 yr old twins did not like it at all. I tried once when they were closer to 4 and 2, then again when they were closer to 5 and 3. They just would not have it. And all three of my kids usually LOVE being read to. The Bible section made them uncomfortable. I wish I had used a different children's Bible. My oldest would just shut down and not answer the Bible questions. Alot of the picture books just did not appeal to them. I was so disappointed. I hope I wasn't too discouraging. I'm sure it will go great for your daughter! So many people seem to love it.

Isn’t that funny I can’t picture my first born listening to a chapter book before he was 5, but my second started listening to them at age 3 and my 1 year old listens to very long picture books with high interest. The more they’re exposed the more they love it!

The letter flip book, was it purchased separately? It wasn't in our preschool pack. We had everything else, including the practice sheets

What do you use for preschool bible memory? I've heard you mention it, but I don't think Ive heard what your using or you just hunting for verses yourself?

We use the memory system from Simply Charlotte Mason. :)

We used it for a while but I did find something else I preferred. It's not a bad curriculum though! :)
