I've been looking forward to this video! My younger will be 3 in the fall, and I'm so excited to do preschool for all the same reasons. I've been coveting Kate Snow's book for a while and it's finally coming in the mail. 😁 I am going to try out a couple Purely Preschool units later this year. I want to see how far I can go adapt them into our minority language. 🤔

@SevenInAll

@@rollingwiththerouses3918 Yes, I printed double-sided so that there's just one sheet in each sleeve of the binder...I remember there were a few cut-out pages (there are some blue and yellow fish for a fish pond math activity)...so I would double-check to see if those have blank pages on the back...it's been a while since I actually printed it all out.

I actually talk about it a little bit in my video about my preschool philosophy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWqZe4OLoptrpa8 I also have a few older videos on some resources from The Good and the Beautiful for older kids. The Good and the Beautiful's preschool workbook is a workbook primarily focused on learning the letters and numbers...those aren't my main priority for preschool. As I share in this video, my big priorities for preschool are big ideas, building a rich vocabulary, and skill-building (fine & gross motor skills, life skills, and relationship skills). Yes, I teach ABCs and 123s, but those aren't what I center preschool instruction around. I could use TGATB workbook for ABCs and 123s practice if I wanted to, but it would just be a little 'extra', not the core of our routine. That's my approach. :)

I didn't know about this new release yet when I filmed this video, but since filming, I discovered that Llamitas just released a new Pre-K Spanish Morning Binder...so now my plan is to add that Morning Binder into our routine for more Spanish practice. My idea at this point is to alternate between English and Spanish days--do the English Morning Binder one day, and the Spanish morning binder the next. Thank you for sharing this, very helpful! Could you please post more about the Where‘d You Learn That alphabet program? It looks like a good complement to AAR Pre-Reading. Also, silly question, but what markers do you use for page protectors with preschoolers? I find traditional dry-erase can lead to lots of smearing and frustration for this age group but wet-erase (at least where we live) are all too fine tipped. Do you have a recommendation?
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll Жыл бұрын
I have a detailed flip-through video for Alphabet Adventures here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWnMqqmcgJujjZY That should give a good look at what it's like--lots of interactive alphabet fun! But of course I'm always happy to answer any more questions. As for dry erase markers--I use Artline Whiteboard Markers...they are the brand my teacher husband always uses in his classroom because they're reliable and are refillable with ink. Dry erase markers definitely never lead to "perfect" results but since the binder is mostly simple circling or drawing quick lines to match, with a little bit of letter tracing...we've never really had frustration with the dry erase.

Rachel, could you link the binder you have or send a link here, for some reason I can’t find the right size. I really like the idea of putting the morning binder together like you did. The binders I find they’re 8.5x11 inch, and the pages are shorter than that. Thank you.

A4 is the paper sized used here, so I printed out the morning binder pages on A4, and then all the binders are A4 as well...I think as long as your paper size matches your binder size, it will work. Mine was purchased from a local bookstore and is the brand of that bookstore (PopBazic is the brand)...but it's pretty much something like this: www.lazada.com.my/products/a4-20304060-pages-pocket-clear-book-folder-transparent-documents-file-display-book-20304060-pages-a4-i2845997952-s13697615937.html?from_gmc=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:15210038057!133416790750!!!pla-296624071193!c!296624071193!13697615937!250541117&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjbagBhD3ARIsANRrqEuwIwXcWJZFmLGrNIGplFGMjwzhnjksTnc83GrpRJvFOw8trWngEvUaAvqCEALw_wcB I got a 60-sleeve binder to have enough pages to keep it all in one.

Did you find the preschool T level of Sonlight to be worth it? I kind of wonder if we would blow through those books in a month but I also love the older levels so much I don’t want to miss something great!
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll Жыл бұрын
It definitely would be possible to blow through the books in a month with book-loving little ones. Can confirm. I have Sonlight T because my mom had it from way back when...I just bought the guide and a few more books to update it (because more good books? Why not! Is pretty much my approach to life...lol). I love the book titles in this level, so many are very iconic classics for little ones....since I've actually had most of these books around the house for years, many of them we have read multiple dozens of times....but having the Sonlight schedule helps reduce decision-making for me at 6:30 in the morning when the boys are ready for eggs + storytime. So....if you have library access or if you already have built a collection of great picture books for preschool...it's not necessarily worth it. But if you're still building out your collection, there are lots of great books in level T.

@@SevenInAll Thank you Rachel! That is so extremely helpful. We do have a lot of books and a great library system which is why A-C are harder for our family to justify. I do find I need help with the pacing and having a plan helps because I plan way way way too much and I tend to read and not be able to come up with the simple hands on activities. How long approx would you say the G&C preschool takes? I looked at it and instantly fell in love but afraid that it might be too time consuming for my 4th child.
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll Жыл бұрын
It is really not very time intensive. The daily core of it is: read 1 picture book, recite/talk about the memory statement cards, do a 5 minute math activity, and do a few pages in the morning binder. The schedule also suggests reading a story from a Bible storybook every day...and there are weekly simple handicrafts to do, which is probably the longest/most time intensive activity (but are still not overly complicated--we did most of them but not all of them last time around). Of course there are extras and add-on suggestions...but if you stick to the core, it doesn't need to take a lot of time. P.S. For me it was also pretty much "look at it, instantly fall in love," too. And I'm still in love with the program after going all the way through it with my 1st son in the past.

My 4 year old daughter primary language is Spanish. She does not speak English and understands it slightly. How can I go about homeschooling her in the English language. Is there a curriculum your recommend. I want her to be fully fluent in English and not fall behind
@SevenInAll
@SevenInAll Жыл бұрын
First of all, that's fantastic that you have given her that Spanish-speaking foundation! With very young children, learning a 2nd language often comes very easily. If she has had little experience with English so far, I'd start with simple additions: learning the phrases for daily routines (It's time for breakfast, put on your shoes, etc.), and add in English songs and reading aloud to her. You can play games with naming different items in the house in English and in Spanish. I don't know of curriculums specifically for teaching English to preschoolers, but hopefully that will give you an idea of a place to start! You could also think about using an English preschool curriculum to give you a framework of ideas...and then adapt it to help her learn the words being used in the books, songs, activities of that curriculum.
