I am a retired teacher. I believed this teacher from the beginning. The father is constantly threatening the teacher with jail time. The father and the mother should be in JAIL. The parents are rude and disrespectful. They never addressed the teacher by Ms, Miss, or Mrs. Actually, the parents appear that they don't respect authority. The parents act like hood rats. If a teacher is made aware of molestation she/he must report it to the authorities. In my state, if it is not reported, the teacher's certification certificate will be rescinded, and she/he will be fired with a great possibility of the teacher going to jail. The educator did the right thing, and I commend her for being an excellent teacher and protector of children. God bless the teacher and the child.

Steve, I would love to see Miss Latoya nominated and awarded with your Hero of the Year. This is by far one of the best on the show. Very well deserved. We need more people like her that don’t ignore or push past accusations regardless of the way these “parents” acted. She remained very calm and from less than a minute in this episode I could easily tell Latoya was telling the truth. The way these “parents” acted, nonstop screaming at her, it was too obvious that they were sitting on A TON of guilt. How very brave of you, Latoya. I applaud you for doing what is morally right and sticking up for this innocent baby because if you didn’t, who would’ve? Law enforcement, mental health providers, educations, those within the medical field, amongst others are mandated as a means of helping keep the public safe. Tarasoff duty to warn became a law when a guy who was seeing his therapist reported he would be planning to kill the girl he liked. The provider did not warn her or law enforcement and was killed. This is when duty to warn was formulated.

If a police officer, teacher, nurse, doctor, or etc is aware that a child is being abused whether sexually or physically and not report it as a mandated reporter, he/she could potentially experience some form of ramifications. There are laws in place to protect those in society. Furthermore, people are in these positions are well aware of their role as a mandated reporter.

Yes it is. Mandated reporters include: teachers, nurses, doctors, police officers (I think there are more but these are the more known ones.) sadly, a lot of times these people let children down. Luckily this teacher didn’t.
