Present Continuous vs To be going to - English Grammar

We all make plans for the future, and we often discuss them with friends, right? Well, in English, there are several ways to express future plans.
TO BE GOING TO vs PRESENT CONTINUOUS) - what do you think? How to choose the correct grammatical structure?
- ‘To be going to’ is used to express the personal intentions or personal plans.
- The Present Continuous Tense is used to express agreement or other preliminary actions.
It is very easy to practice “to be going to” and the Present Continuous Tense just use it whenever you’re planning something.

@@lingportal I've just taken a look and they are really well explained. In my experience, the tense my Spanish students (I've had loads) misuse the most is the present simple. They translate it into English and use it too often. For example, where we would use the will future for instant decisions, they might say the present simple. To be honest, the areas I think my Spanish students struggle with most are: pronunciation (things like -ed endings of regular past verbs), phrasal verbs, prepositions, be/get used to and conditionals (especially the 2nd and 3rd). Sadly I don't think I'm going to able to see my mother this summer. In Germany we learn, that "think" is a signal word for "will-futur". Isn't that correkt?
