Exothermic reaction from too much resin poured in one sitting. I had that happened when I first did resin years ago. Turned into boiling resin and had to take it outside because of the fumes. Crazy how that happens. Your last piece looks great!

I was confused about using a heat gun curing to a silicone mold. I've never had that experience. You probably need a casting resin and then do layers so it doesn't overheat so fast that it burns. (In terms of standard resin. Not the light one.) That is a gorgeous flower though! For some reason, it reminds me of a kiwi. :)

I’m not sure it’s finger oils causing the translucent areas. I’ve had that happen too and definitely on flowers I’ve not handled in a way that would get finger oils in them. Not sure what’s causing it, except for a breakdown in the flower structure from the drying process. HOWEVER, I’ve discovered a solution. Spray flowers that are prone to this (hibiscus, dogwoods, day lilies are the ones I’ve found so far) with spray sealant. Spray back and front. Treat the flowers like you would paper in resin. I just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for the persistence and showing all the trials and errors!

Beautiful! Did you use thick casting resin for the final? I have a casting resin that says it's for 4 in pours and it's very liquidity and takes long to cure. Would this work well if I poured all in one without layering? Thx!
