Sharing my thoughts on your observation that there is no Indian Cuisine...😊🙏🏻 Collectively the Regional Foods from the Indian Subcontinent are clubbed together to be called Indian Food. Within India, when folks travel & want to eat foods across the regions, we call them by the Regional Names. Example: Today, let's eat / order South Indian or Maharashtrian, or Punjabi or Rajasthani, Gujrati etc. Within States, there are further distinction like Kathiavadi or Kacchi Cuisine etc. Since as a Civilization, we exist for 3000+ years, the entire Sub Continental Cuisine is Indian. Post 1947, the distinction was created Bangladeshi or Pakistani Cuisine,.but basically they all are Indian Cuisine with regional variations only.

Agree 100% ! Like India, Pakistan is very diverse society . In terms of languages , food, attire, music Pakistani society is rich and diverse. We were fortunate to have founding fathers who allowed and encouraged our regional identities of Language, Music, Food , attire , post 1947. Respect for Diversity is key difference between India and Pakistan. Pakistan will never progress until itallows freedom to its citizens to express their own idenities of Sindhis, Punjabi, Pasthuns, Baloch ...speak different languages like Sindhi, Seraiki etc . Exercise of Homogenisation of its society by Pakistani leaders has failed miserably , which has lead to this mess which Pakistan is facing. India needs to learn from blunder caused by artificial homogenisation by Pakistan and we must avoid it even if some RW may call its against "nationalism".

It's important to preserve your ethnic culture in the native homeland of your ethnicity not in foreign places. When you migrate it's important to adopt the culture of the locals like Junaid's example of his family having Kashmiri origin but assimilated to Punjabi identity after migrating to Punjab.

@richardsking ..please look at all the celebrity marriages....our own kids are married with christian and Hindu girls and we celebrate all religious functions together. No kid is following just our Sikhism,rather it's inclusive to respect our daughter in law's religious beliefs and celebrate their side of culture too so we have christmas celebrations too as well as shivratri celebrations as well as gurpurab celebrations too.....that's what secularism is , isn't that what India and other western countries all about ??? Dear Junaidbhai, Greetings from Mumbai, India. Interesting perspective about cultural identity issue in Pakistan and India. "India" (ancient India includes present Pakistan, BD, Nepal, AF, SL ) for 1000s of years has witnessed diversity, in terms of language, food, attire , faith, music , literature , arts etc.Hence India has seen existence of Hindu,Sikh , Parsis , Muslim, Jain, Buddhist, Christian, Tribal culture for centuries. We never became one language or one faith or culture society. Post Independence, Fortunately our founding fathers kept this tradition alive while framing Constitution to have a plural, diverse society encouraging people to live together with tolerance to diversity. For Indians, the Indus Valley civilisation sites like Harappa, Mohenjodaro are very much part of Indian Culture and History , as much as Nalanda or Taj Mahal or Haridwar or Golden temple . Respect for Diversity is a major difference between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has such huge diversity in terms of languages ( may be more than 20 odd well developed languages and dialects) , instead of being proud of , I find Pakistanis try to show off Urdu language . The day Pakistan respects and celebrates its diversity in terms of languages, music, food, attire , faith etc ..Pakistan will also become "normal".Regards

I'm an indian, bengali. I can speak Bengali, Hindi and English but understand urdu ,Punjabi, haryanvi ,Assamese, odiya partly. I see south indian movies without subtitles and dubbing and tey to understand bits and pieces. In India it very easy to preserve one's own culture. Yes , bjp govt is trying to impose hindi on India but our south Indian brothers are super active against this .

Junaid .. keep religion aside and Pakistan’s views of India, just examine history from multiple perspective and keeping Mohd bin Qasims invasion ( from the Arabian caliphate) then you will realise the land of Pakistan as it stands was a multi cultural racial society with very little traces of Islam. The history of Pakistan is diverse and beautiful and in common with India . Lots abd lots of similarity with a shared history of course. A lot of bad blood, animosity hatred and divide has been created. If you look at all the great events of Pakistan it is all laid out pre partition which says something about us being united as one nation. I am not professing the need to unify but a call for all rational and well meaning citizens on both sides present and past to look at the relationship from a different perspective. Of friendship of harmony of collaboration and of trust abd reliance. Will bring a lot of peace abd stability to the region. We owe it our future.
