The #1 killer of the newer radios is the RX noise! My Cobra 138XLR or 2000GTL or even the Robyn T-240D is always the winner. You did a great job pointing it out. You can have a modern radio RX with low noise but they are just not building them yet. YES to the 3-step AGC!! How about a removable control head for small cars?

I have a lot of noise as well and my RF Gain is set to 5, using the radios NRC for receive, and use their DSP microphone with lime green PTT to adj. xmit audio. I spent one day comparing it to a Yaesu's FT-710, making similar adjustments, to get fairly equal (NR set, NB, etc.). Granted the 710 isn't modified for xmit, but I don't think it would affect reception at all. As you'd expect, noise was horrendous on both radios (and terrible to look at on the 710 display), but I was amazed at how much more I preferred the President's reception over the Yaesu. The George FCC picked out stations that were buried in the noise level on the 710, so while I could tell there was a station trapped in all of the RF muck, I couldn't understand them until I switched back to the President. Now, both units are surface mount, with their own versions of DSP, so I thought I'd grab a rig from the 1993-1998 and throw it into the mix: My Kenwood's TS-50. For those not familiar with this marvelous HF mobile, there isn't any DSP. Your most used controls are Volume, Squelch, RF Gain, NB, band selection, and VFO dial. In A/B comparisons I found both the President and TS-50 coming out on top over the 710. The NRC circuit in the President gave it a slight edge over the TS-50. My other George FCC has been in the mobile for 6 months. Along with its legal RF output and Sirio Performer 2000 antenna, when conditions were just ripe for DX, I had little problem making QSO's around the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, and France. As I've mentioned before, the George FCC screen is wonderful. Unlike some radios (i.e. Uniden 880/980) the display color looks very good until...sunlight hits it. At that point it's difficult to see signal strength or much of anything on the screen of those radios. My President, set to CYAN looks great as well when it's not in direct sunlight, like the others. In full sunlight, and unlike the others, the screen becomes grayscale and is perfectly readable. Same with the TS-50. It only has one color (light amber) but looks like grayscale in sunlight. If anyone gets the chance, as I did, to buy one of these rigs, re-capped and corrosive glue removed, it would be a no brainer. The one I have will around long after I'm gone - and I've strayed too far now from the George FCC (sorry), so I'd better end my comment before I go off on another tangent. Good follow up video btw, I enjoyed it. 👍

CQDX calling 390 Mud Duck, President released a new radio replacing the President Lincoln II+ called the President Washington & no, not the classic base station but looks the same as the President George FCC & George II. Got to get that radio man it's awesome. Awesome job bro -73's

Should had another name maybe washington -m II or something . A local reurunreed his locked up clarifier can't open for all freqs like UK version FCC model compared to a Lincoln 2 + isn't that good . Support the Lincoln 2+ better radio more freqs .

President has released the new Washington, it will be a 12 and 10 meter rig with 70w output on SSB . It will more that likely replace the outdated Lincoln 2+ ( Not a great rig IMHO) It has been 5 years since I had a Linclon2+ on the bench, however from what I remember (YIKES) about the performance of the 2+ I think the Washington shout be a game changer for the President lineup. We shall see.... Stay Tuned my friend :)

A variable AGC circuit would be nice. The problem with the latest surface mount radios is actually the crystal filter in them. I prefer the old school filters which are much bigger with better roll off performance. They are more selective and reject out of frequency signals which help reduce the noise floor like the older Washington and Cobra 148. Check their filters and you will see what I mean.

The new AnyTone 666 pro will let you change the AGC It will also let you transmit on 3KC or 4KC wide for SSB that's a huge thing for Hi-Fi audio transmission. I agree the newest stuff doesn't have the Fidelity of the old stuff but trade off I guess

Street Legal, passes emissions. Still need to lock in a voted for FM 11 Meter Simplex Calling Channel, give 26.805 a break, or revive channel 23 USB. I hope it has like 5 board mounted pot.s to bring deadkey down/swing up like the 880, 980, or even 505. Real bummer on it's pure FCC compliant output, gonna need to study up on SWR, Matching, Coax Loss, and elevation by any means, to have some real groundwave travel. Uniden/President are my favorite shelf level harnessing brands of CB whiskey. 🏁

I say use all 5 A or RC channels for FM . Plus reuse 16 LSB for SSB . this goes back to old 23 SSB only radios 38 to plugged up.use 16.lsb But 26.805 sounds ok for fm DX .

I can’t say 100% for sure as it’s been years since I have sold them. At the time I had a Stryker SSB next to the Lincoln and the Stryker was far better RX. IMO In fact my 1st gen TopGun quad 5 was better as well.

This is a non modifiable CB radio so 26.965 - 27.405 only and locked clarifier. IDK about the Anytone as I do not own one. Thanks for watching.

Washington Mobil : let's call it. .. If it expands opens up like this UK radios for $50 more ot BD worth it. A 980 out box locked up no mods locked up clarifier . No way. A old PC 122 or. PC 244 is a better radio. Plus easy tune up . ,980 all surface mount components
