A very expensive radio that can hardly reach 4 watts. I don’t understand why manufacturers can’t set a radio up to spec when they cost so much . You definitely have the patience of a saint Richard. Great video as per , thanks again

I was going to buy one of these radios as they look great but if they are all as bad as that one I'll just stick to my latest generation Grant II which I always get good reports about my audio and signal. President should get their rear end kicked for sending that radio out. Keep the videos coming Richard. Many thanks.

I would have thought if the FM and AM modes were set up properly then the other 2 modes will be correct.

When you serviced the Grant 2 seven years ago, you mentioned in that video that you were getting a Schlumberger test set and that you would then be able to do SSB optimisation…did you have a change of heart?

I never serviced the Grant, we just did an overview & a bit of a test with Mark. I have A Shlumberger test set that doesn't work. Even if I sort it out (in my retirement!) I'm not sure I want to be involved with SSB. Richard, G0OJF, UK

Got one of these with no receive Signal meter doesn't move, and just white noise. Does tx, but nothing received.. any ideas?

You should have 8V on Q152 & Q159 when in receive. If no 8V then I would suggest the 8V regulator for receive has failed. Richard

​@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 I get 8v on the middle pin of E23- Q152 But nothing at all on any other legs. Q159 marked 54 gives nothing out Googling these little tranny's doesn't help much either!

Hi there, not sure what I did wrong, I turned RF power up to full, got about 20 watts on meter and it started to glow and burn, my shack stinks, what did I do wrong , please help, great videos by the way .

It's 4W AM/FM & 12W SSB (PEP) so if you've managed to get 20W for a few seconds, you've killed the PA.. What you haven't said is if that 20W you achieved was in AM, FM or SSB.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 : it was FM, it still seems to be working ok, although it is worrying it happened , it’s a President Richard , I assumed the RF power was to increase my power but instead fried my box, lesson learned , thanks for your help, I’m still new to this after many years away

I do love how people buy these modern President Branded radios and think they're actually buying a quality President set as once built by Uniden. how wrong people are when what they receive is pretty much a junk Chinese radio nothing more than 'like all the others' type radios. poor quality control, build and pretty much without the brand name on them would be a poor seller also.
