If you replace Beirut, Lebanon for Rafah, Gaza then this speech would be prescient for what we're experiencing right now. "Children will not be avenged by the deaths of other children." Israel has killed over ten thousands women and children in Gaza.

@@L_back All? No. As of last month, estimates from the Palestinian Authority, Pentagon and United Nations indicate the total death toll of women and children in Gaza exceed 25,000 ... with between 52% and 70% of the dead are women and children. It's a horror. Would you like citations?

@@chcsab9770 I blame Hamas for October 7th. The killing of civilians, the rapes. What Israel did afterward was completely disproportionate. An ongoing genocide.

Don’t have to replace it now. You have to add it. The Israelis once again invade Lebanon. It’s sick.

40 years after this speech and thousands of other presidential speeches and middle east still lives in war after war, i am lebanese who suffered from my birthday till now from wars, my family used to change our home for 5 times in 25 years, my childhood as many other lebanese persons was full of fear and anxiety and poverty, and now? We are used to.live a financial war and political interferences from here and there. Guys we didn't choose where to be born, you as americans civilian people are living peace but here we are not, you must ask your governments about these 40 years what did they do in lebanon syria iraq, and why they are still doing the same.policy, there are children are suffering like i suffered before, they are dying of fame and thirst, there are a lot of lebanese people living in US ask them about there childhood about their origin nation, read news books articles, be aware about what your governments' policies, how can you be in a democratic country and you don't give a shit about your governments' foreign policies. You live in a democratic system but you are not participating in it as a democratic mentality, you think democracy is limited in elections between two candidates and that's it. Change your freaking mind and mentality because we are suffering because of your ignorance.

We all know who is controlling the decision making process in the US. My dear, if the US Goverment is not giving a single shit about its citizens who are dying in thousands due to ongoing mass shootings at their malls & schools & Theaters, universities and schools will it give single shit about the people in Middle East who are dying every time due to its evil policy in supporting israel ? Millions of Americans are homeless at the big cities in the US and millions of others lack insurance and might die in silent at their houses in case they were sick. As we say خليها على الله

As a lowly American citizen, against US imperialist wars, I humbly ask your forgiveness. Although I did not vote for Reagan, this speech on peace makes Ronald Reagan look like a dove and Biden look like a flock of hawks. Ronald Reagan did stop the fighting & supplying of weapons in Lebanon. I realize that did not end your suffering or your family's suffering. I'm sorry. Bloody Biden could stop the war in Gaza (and West Bank), like Reagan stopped the bombing of Lebanon in 1982, in literally--30 minutes. I am sorry the pain the US govt cause you and your family for generations and decades. Know that American citizens are generally deeply good, peace seeking people and much information is with-held from us by corporate run media and state dept., defense dept., Homeland Security. Peace in Gaza/West Bank and Ukraine.
