I remember this like it was yesterday. We were assembled that Sunday morning and told to be prepared. Bugged out shortly after, our battalion of Marines was on an escort destroyer. We flew to Guam. God what a sight!!! Watched the New Jersey take care of business. The Eisenhower was also there. From what I'm told a better part of Lebanon is still in ruins today. I believe that Iran was particularly or wholly responsible for both attacks . God bless President Reagan, Our beloved Marines who perished. I will never forget. U. S. MARINE Lance Corporal.

It was Hezbuolla, Iranian terrorist organization. There is a plaque in Tehran for the martyr who drove the vehicle through the gate. I was a Marine Corporal, just getting back from a deployment overseas. I was Duty NCO that night for the company. It was a Saturday night/ Sunday morning stateside. I remember the number of dead Marines coming in. They kept climbing! The guards were not allowed to insert a loaded magazine in their weapons. All crowded in one building! How wrong they were done. I’m just going leave it at that.
