Now that was REALLY good Brian. I have turned spheres using your shadow technique but never thought of developing it, it was exciting to watch. Thankyou for making clear, easy to follow videos, another skill you have.

So many great follow-up ideas on this one. Perhaps I merely scratched the surface.

Lots of possibilities and inspiration. I like it. Regarding the wedge tool - the one I use is larger, 10 mm round stock, and I grind a slight reverse bevel and what you end up with is one of the best tools for cutting coves (used in the style of a spindle gouge). Very predictable and forgiving so benefits beginners but makes coves very fast and repeatable in the hands of someone with skills and practice. Another great video, Brian.....

This is a really great idea I've done some inside out and I think this will help me get the shape I want for the window on the inside out I'm going to have to experiment with positioning the light right I wish I'd seen your video sooner cuz I would have been able to do these things some more I really enjoy when you explain why you do what you do that's the way I learn thank you very much

That is a fantastic technique. I am going to have to try this. I had been wanting to try a sphere as a bit of a challenge and this idea of following the template with the shadow is fantastic. Really great for replicating shapes too. Thanks for sharing.

just a thought...inside out turning....you could turn the image on one side of 2-4 pieces... flip um inside out then turn the images back side on to the back of the pieces...you should get a front and a back on the same turned pieces that way in theory...... does that make sense.....? ...it makes sense in my head..lol
@BHavensWoodworker9 жыл бұрын
+SkunkTreeCarvings If I understand correctly, then I think that will work. I suppose I could have even glued my halves together in reverse and returned the back side of the profile that way.

why not do her back side also, split the wood and match it to her front side.
@BHavensWoodworker9 жыл бұрын
+Bill Binnicker I did not think of that. That would definitely work, and doing the front and back separately, then splitting them on the table saw would also solve the issue of getting the width right. Simply keep trimming each half on the table saw and test fit until it looks right.

+Brian Havens Wow! Wish I could do what you do. But, to give you an idea of some thing you did not think of is great satisfaction.
